DFRPG / Re: Odd City Settings?
« on: November 08, 2010, 08:25:40 PM »
I live in Lancaster, PA, and was going to use the entire county, instead of just the city. You might want to consider take a little bit smaller city and using not only the city but the area around it as well. have your your characters run around a bit more and cover more distance to get from plave to place. Here in Lancaster we have a very large rural and agricultural landscape that could be used for plenty of things, and I want to try to work the amish into things somehow. I don't know how though yet.

Duct tape would work imo. It's like the force, It has a light side, a dark side and binds the universe together. Speaking of which, it would be interesting to be a jedi knight. have true faith in the force and an IoP that is a magical glowey beam sword of magic and awesomeness.

If the LGS is a no go (which is where I would go first), you might want to find a large common room or rec center in your collage and sit down and read the rpg there. This is a good place and action to get the attention of other students who are interested in gaming who are walking by. This is how I found my collage gaming group, I stumbled upon a group of people poring over rpg books.

Yeah, we've never really understood the value of the Martial Arts stunt.  Ok, to be clear - the player can, every time he's fighting someone, do a declaration on his foe.  This declaration can be anything like "Poor Fighter" or "Impressed by My Skill".  Right?

1.  How long does this aspect last?
2.  Does this cost a Fate Point?
3.  Does it come with a free tag?
4.  Can the NPC get rid of it in the same scene?
5.  Is this a Free action?  If so, shouldn't I then expect the player to *always* do a declaration each and every foe he faces?

As far as I understand it:
1: however long it seems appropriate. "poorly trained" would probably last a while, "Stunned by my skill" might wear off pretty shortly.
2: Yes, decelerations should cost a fate point every time.
3: Yes, and since decelerations are free actions you can tag it immediately
4: see number 1
5: as with 4 yes, it is free. What stops players from doing it with every single npc is the fate point cost. and if you need to use the the optional rule where players need to roll for it if they start to get carried away.

DFRPG / Re: animal mimic
« on: October 19, 2010, 02:06:17 PM »
I think I might of misspoke on my last post a little.  If I calculate it I can get the ability to a -0 refresh cost. -4 for true shape changing . +1 for animal only, +1 for limited forms (4 to start and hard to get more), +1 for exhausting/hunger track, +1 for human form = -0. Am I doing the math right here? I'm considering letting it go for a -0 because of all the modular abilities she would have to buy, and we're probably going to do a lower power game.

I like the idea of the hunger track to simulate staying in animal form for too long, and being stuck if in animal form too long,

@becq - I like this idea. I'll have to look into this further

I was already planning on making sure it was only one skillset per form. She'll only be able to turn into one specific form of the animal. But I like the idea of index cards.

Does anyone have an idea on what I should give for, reduction wise, for the exhaustion and  limited means of getting different forms? I'm not sure if it should be a +1 each or for both.

DFRPG / animal mimic
« on: October 15, 2010, 07:21:26 PM »
I have a player who had an interesting idea for a supernatural stunt. She want to play an animal mimic. basically she want to be able to morph into various animals. I was thinking of doing a variation of mimic where she tacks a set refresh cost and then she can morph into various animals that would fall into that refresh cost. There was some talk about some drawback, with potential cost reductions, about exhaustion while in animal form and difficult means of getting different animal forms (possible ingestion of bits of that animal). I wanted to throw this up here and see what people thought. any thoughts/suggestions would be cool.

DFRPG / Re: "Knocked on yer' butt!"

To me "knocked on yer' butt!" could also imply a little bit of daze or being winded to some degree on top of being knocked prone/supine, so it could be a consequence. Meaning that when it's healed the person has come to his senses enough to get up. otherwise maneuver it is.
