If he does want to come to the uk, I currently work for Borders/Books Etc and can hook Jim up with some in-store signings, my colleague, Cherry would be over the moon as she enjoys the books too.  Dresden is becoming quite popular over here.  Although I am in London, Edinburgh is my home town and it is beautiful.  Jim will have to try the haggis and whisky.

Unfortunately, with Jim's propensity to motion sickness, I'm sure he's not too keen on the thought of a long plane ride, unless he could get a day or two to recuperate upon landing.  As for haggis and whiskey, well, Jim doesn't drink, and even though he's one of the more polite people on God's green earth, I can't imagine him even coming close to the haggis, much less actually eating any.

Of course, stranger things have happened.

Now personally, I'd be over the moon!  I dream of being able to make that trip someday...

Okay, I'm kind of confused about something. In The Darkest Hour, Spidey says that he killed Morlun by injecting himself with radioactive material and letting Morlun drain him and then Morlun's guy shot him in the chest when he was weakened, but I read on Wikipedia that it happened differently in the comic. I read that Morlun ripped Spidey's eye out and when he was in the hospital, Morlun went after Mary Jane and Peter got pissed so he mutated into a giant spider and killed Morlun and then died himself only to be born from a cocoon.

So then which is true? I thought they were both Amazing Spider-man.

Well, I'd have to say that 'true' is definitely a malleable concept in the comic world.   Personally I find Jim's explanation more plausible by far.  Heck, maybe he changed it because the whole 'mutate-into-giant-spider' thing just doesn't seem to work well.

I am guilty of discovering the books via the TV show. Does them mean I'm no longer cool? I am trying to compensate by buying the books as fast as humanely possible.

I quite frankly think that anyone who picks up Jim's books and enjoys them is cool, regardless of whether they're only now learning of his astounding writing talent or have known about it for years.

Then you'll have to go outside of the canon to provide such a character.  That's all.  Nothing stopping you, when it comes down to it.

But even *Hank McCoy*, a wizard of the Senior Council, was only able to give Harry something to ease the pain, and *maybe* lightly nudge the healing process, when Harry got his hand fried.  It's not within the scope of human magic, at a minimum -- possibly because resculpting human flesh requires an atomic-level understanding of biology, or just that it's hard not to accidentally strip the muscle off of the bone.  Whatever the case, there's just no foundation for it.

It might not be healing exactly, but Kumori did do the life-support necromantic "Hey, you, yeah you, the spirit, where you think you're going?  Get back in that body!" thing for that gunshot victim in Dead Beat...

My respect for Jim went up to know that he too played the much un-beloved Birthright game.

Jim actually GM'd two different birthright campaigns, both of which rocked the house.  The first one, which Fred was referring to in the podcast, was based in, er, whatever the name of that land was that Birthright used.  The second was an Oriental setting conversion, which was great fun.  Those were probably my two favorite RPG campaigns ever.
