Title: New Store!
Post by: Priscellie on September 25, 2008, 05:23:12 AM
Fred, our tireless site administrator, has given the store (http://www.jim-butcher.com/store) a complete facelift!  Hopefully, this format will be a bit less overwhelming, both to navigate and to keep updated!  We also hope to set up affiliate programs with other online retailers over the next few weeks.

Let us know what you think here!

Looks good! And I think this thread needs to get stickied eventually, and possibly moved, but I'm not sure where.

Nice job, Fred!

Looks good, but I'm with MSD.  Only us die hards really pay attention to this section, so it'll probably do better elsewhere.

Thank you Fred! I definitely try to support the site by buying
stuff from Amazon through this web site.
I am waiting for my calendars to be shipped from Amazon and I was
wondering whether if I needed to cancel my order so I could buy
them from this web site. Since the links go to Amazon I decided to
wait.
It seems that thanks to the new setup it will be much easier to order
my stuff.

It seems to me, another daughter-board in MacAnally's would be just the spot for a selection of threads relating to merchandise.  Something along the lines of, oh, "The Store" or something. :)

"The Jim Butcher Store Board - be a Butcherbuddy and buy your Butcherbooks here!"

:D

I have a question about the Dresden Files calendar. I ordered 2 from
Amazon but they are still unable to ship them to me. I tried Borders.
Do I wait for Amazon or is there somewhere I can buy them?

How long ago did you place your order?  Did Amazon give you a reason for why they are unable to ship them to you?

Amazon is now listing the calendar as being out of print, so I doubt you'll be able to find it in other stores.  Heavy Metal Magazine vastly underestimated the demand.

I placed my order on April 12. 2008. rats.

I just wanted to let you know that Amazon shipped my calendars
yesterday!
Since all my wishes come true here I just want to say I need to
lose 20 pounds, win the lottery and keep my job(any job).
Thanks

I don't know what's wrong, but when I try to access the store off of Mr. Butcher's site, it shows a few messages on the page: 'warning', then something about 'argument not valid . . . line __', instead of images or information.

Yeah, a bunch of fans have brought it to our attention, but Fred hasn't been on yet to fix it.

BTW - what happened to the Google ads that are supposed to be at the top and bottom of the page?

I think I've asked this before, but it's just the linked items that count, right?  If I pick up, say, SF in Kindle from your store, then proceed with the same browser section to get more stuff that's not JB related, it won't give you the referral?  If I want to buy all of the books for my Kindle, is it better to click through your site individually?

Actually, once you click through, your shopping trip gets "tagged" for the site -- so we get referral cash for all sorts of things you toss in your cart.
