Title: What about Bob...
Post by: EBRIEN on May 02, 2021, 07:01:15 PM
Why is Bob confined to a skull? I know he needs to be there before the sun rises or he's doomed, but why is he confined at all? I mean, why can't he come and go as he, the Spirit, wants?

We know he works with whomever possesses him, and that he's a spirit of intellect and all that, but why isn't he a free spirit? Likewise with Bonea...

When they are born (created), are they automatically bound? Seems convenient for the possessor of the skull (or whatever construct of safety), but problematic for the spirit.

And Evil Bob...Is Evil Bob just floating around somewhere being all free-spirited?

Is there a WoJ?

Thanks!

The skull is enchanted. Bob is bound to it by Etienne the enchanter. Bonea is probably not bound the same way to her skull unless Harry did so but she moved freely in the apartment and interacted with Maggie like they knew each other pretty well. The wooden skull is just a save haven for her.

There is an old woj about Etienne somewhere.

But doesn't Bob get time off once in a while?  It is like Harry gives him a 24 hour pass, but he manages to get into trouble like invading women's dorm rooms.  He's also gone spying for Harry not exactly possessing Mister so much as riding on his back.

Harry is not a slave driver so if he asks Bob something that is beyond what he normally would ask he tends to pay him back some way or another. Harry also supplies romance books for him etc. It is just because Harry is a nice guy and he sometimes sees Bob as a friend. Which is not unrecognised by Bob, it was the reason Harry could do what he did at the end of dead beat.

Bob also negotiates with Harry sometimes for special things. It is just how they interact with each other. Harry could probably command but he prefers the current relation.

Yes, that is what I am saying, Bob isn't totally chained to the skull, the holder can give him some time off or freedom.

Bob can't be let loose because he doesn't know the difference between right and wrong. Look what associating with Kemmler did to him.

That is why he got into trouble in the women's dorm when he was allowed to roam for 24 hours.
