You have PTSD and a 6 foot 9inch badly scarred man turns up on your doorstep wearing a fur and a loincloth, and carrying a club what would you do? This costume would show off his most recent scars the second bullet wound to his chest, and the lucky lightening strike which cauterised it (in Harry’s lexicon that is what passes as good luck).
Depends if they saw harry save their lives or not... those in his neighborhood might have a different opinion.

yes to Michael's knowledge Harry is the only one to ever resist a fallen's shadow. Harry does remind him that the fallen eliminate the records whenever possible. There is no reason he would be the only one, just as he is likely not the only one to throw off the winter knight.

I was under the impression that only a wizard can carry around the shadow of a Coin.  A mortal who gives up a Coin will no longer have a connection to it.  Harry who had buried it, and wanted it to go away, was still connected to it.  I thought Michael said something about it to Harry, and how he would eventually be forced to kill Harry, when Harry gave in and accepted it.
Because to their knowledge, nobody had ever resisted the temptation of a fallen. Harry being who he is was just stubborn enough to resist the call of the fallen. To the church's knowledge, harry is the first to resist the temptation. Though had Harry not had the wonderful conversation about how Lasciell's shadow was composed of Harry's fungible material it is uncertain if she would have changed... she resisted right up to the end.

Groinkick,
Why? basically, he would just have to take a backseat to Namshiel. If Namshiel knows how to do something then he is capable of doing it so long as his host wills it so. Thus Marcone need not have the ability or knowledge to do something. Just think it and Namshiel does it. We know from interactions with Lashiel and Anduriel that they can do things through hosts without the host actively being a participant. Granted Marcone is not one to merely take a backseat to anyone.

DF Spoilers / Re: Mab chose Molly
« on: October 14, 2021, 02:27:36 PM »
I don't have the book available for reference, but in the conversation that Harry and Mab have, she as much as said that Molly's association with Harry is what put her on Mab's radar. She admitted that she was prepping molly as a fallback if something happened to Sarissa. Also according to Harry, the mantle had to go to someone with fae blood, so Murph would not be an option. I had long wondered why the mantle went directly to Sarissa and Molly. The summer lady mantle should have gone to Fix as established in summer knight (need reference). The winter mantle should have gone directly to Mab, but she easily could have redirected it to Molly herself.

DF Spoilers / Marcone and the thorned one

It had long been speculated that Marcone had the coin. Mab even made a point to look at Marcone during the conversation about what weapons could hurt Ethniu. One thought that I have had is what if Marcone only took up the coin for the fight. If he had however been holding the coin in reserve for such a time it would be in character for him. He has the willpower to talk to and use an imprint just as harry did, without taking up the coin. There is no reason he couldn't have gained the necessary knowledge from Namshiel prior to picking up the coin. As a side note, it is also possible for the fallen to take direct action so long as their host "wills" it, meaning Marcone would not have to have the magical skills himself to use them. Just as Butters was using BOB to power artifacts the fallen could be used to fuel Marcone's magic.

DF Spoilers / Re: Who is on the Grey Council?
« on: May 23, 2019, 02:43:22 AM »
If LTW is on the grey council there are more than 12 members. Eb told Harry he was out of commission at that time. Rashid is a maybe, Harry doesn't remark on any others being overly tall, and Rashid is taller than Harry.
I have a crazy thought though after going through changes recently, I think Arthur Langtree is a member. Officially he denies things, but he is too smart to not realize things are up so politically he needs to hold that line. Personally though he wants to hit back.

We have all made a grave assumption here, and that is that like the gate keeper and black staff, the Warden is a position of the WC. Harry mentions in TC as he sets up the sanctum spell that they are rare, Eb even mentions that there are few locii then on top of that few wizards are capable of performing a sanctum.  Rashid's shock may come more from the fact that Harry succeeded rather than knowing what was done.  What if the island is one of those things lost to the histories?
Then later Harry informs Eb, who takes it to the gray council. (I'm a little hazy on the order of Eb's journal reading and the rest of the activities) after all it wasn't until after TC that Harry even knows the full purpose.

Because of the way thing link to real world the nature of what is constructed could/probably would change the link in the NN.  I.e. You build a maximum security prison for super natural beings on this side it would inherently link to a prison/military structure on the other.

I always got the feeling that the White Council sort of gets the powerful and secret wizard positions (Gatekeeper, Blackstaff, Warden of the Well) chosen for them for multiple reasons.

1)  they require unique and uniquely powerful wizards.

2)  the White Council hides their existence from its own members so most prospects are those who either stumble upon the positions or seek them out against the will of the White Council.

3)  greater powers tend to get involved (the Fates, whoever maneuvered Harry to the island, etc.)

4)  the types of wizards crazy enough to willingly take on these roles are not likely to be yes men or strictly uphold White Council doctrine.

If I had to guess I would say that probably nearly as many people had strokes when Eb took up the Blackstaff as did when Harry took up the mantle of the Warden of the Well.
Side note: is the WC fully aware of what Harry did or still just rashid eb and listens to wind?
I like the idea that they just blunder into these positions or are forced to actively seek them.
