As much as I like the sentiment, I've always thought that that line of thought is along the lines of "It's always in the last place you look for it." Because, well, of course it is. :P

On an unrelated note, I'm super excited. My best friend is finally out of basic training and on a base with regular phone/internet access so he can hang out with our group on discord. It was a long three months.

I've had a weird time with swearing in the military. In a regular line unit, where it's just soldiers, no one really cares. But once you get to a higher echelon unit, like where I'm at now, and there's civilians working with us, all of a sudden it's not okay.

My supervisor pulled me aside when I first got here, and he told me to stop swearing before one of the civilians files a complaint with HR. My reply? "Since when has the army had fucking HR?!"

That supervisor gave up on getting me to stop swearing pretty quick.
Huh. Weird. I've heard my boss's boss say "god f***ing da***t" is probably higher than almost anyone else in the store. Granted, I work retail and she's a manager...

I despise talking on the phone. Especially when I'm trying to follow up on an interview and I get the person's voicemail. It's 2019, who still uses voicemail?! *Grumble mutter*

I don't remember the rants, but I'll take your word for it. ;)
Eh, I'm working retail during the holidays. It means that I'm working a lot of hours and making decent money, but I'm a part time worker so no benefits which truly sucks. I should be hearing back from an interview I had a couple of weeks ago soonish, so we'll see how that turns out. How about you, Dina?

Ghost Story definitely is not my favorite book. The story just feels kind of awkward on it, plus for a book about a wizard it's fairly light on the magical concepts. Cold Days and Skin Game are, in my opinion, so much better.

Hi guys, how's it going? I've just finished reading Blood Rites and White Night again, and it just makes me want more of the Black Court and Elaine.

*Checks temperature* Honestly, I think I live in a place where it's unfair of me to "compete" here. :P
We get some fun, hot summers here in the Southern US.

I probably will be later this week. Have to wait to find out on that one, but frankly a couple of things have happened/come to light in the past couple of days that made me realize that when I get the opportunity, I need to cut contact with essentially my entire family. So that's interesting.

Hi Dina. :)
Mostly agreed. There have only been a couple of exceptions.

Yes, the story refers to humans, and it doesn't work. People generally change all the time, even if it was in bits and pieces. Some character traits get enhanced, others get reduced, but a 180 change isn't possible except in very rare cases.
I think the story also talks about second chances, and we should grant them or not. I agree and disagree, as if someone consistently proved to be incapable of change shouldn't be allowed a second chance, and some transgressions are too great to be forgiven.
Hard agree. Some people  don't change, and you need to stop giving them the chance to disappoint you.

I would like to test that theory. Someone give a few million!
The IRS (or applicable local tax collector) wants to know your location.

Also, I have a fun question for you guys. What D&D class do you think Iron Man would be and why?

I wonder what it would be like to go 7 days in a row without precipitation. Since it's been at least 8 months since that's happened in this area. (Southern Indiana, United States.) That is a Very Unusual weather pattern for us.
I would like to know the same. I nearly cried today when it started raining again. Down near Oklahoma. "Rain rain go away" has never felt so untouchable.
