Title: That Perfect Flow
Post by: Doroga's Cousin on March 06, 2011, 04:53:19 AM
Anyone have tips on how to get a piece of writing to flow from one sentence to another, and a good way to tie together chapters?

Practice. And reading things out loud.

See how an author you like does it.
But Jeno is right - practice.
Or as one writer says - "Get black on white!"

Also, do bear in mind that control of not having smooth flow is itself a technique; sometimes what you want is to give the reader a jolt, to keep them from thinking they're sure they know what's coming next. GRRM is very good at this indeed.
