Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Signing in Lexington, KY on 7/30

In my experience from JB's last appearance, You can still show up and listen to the Q&A free of charge.  The line ticket just gives you a spot in line to get books signed.  *you can still get in line* without a ticket, but it's the very very back of the line.  Expect to be there for a long while if that's the case.

I just read (well, skimmed) this article: http://unarmed.shlomifish.org/909.html and thought I should share with the board.  I've seen more than one time where tempers have gotten somewhat heated on the board, and since this is about the only community online I really care about/ ever contribute to, i feel an urge to keep things happy ;)

Note: If there's a better place to put this topic, feel free to move it, mods.

Darkest Hours / Re: Best Quotes

I don't remember where in the book it is, but there was a quote:

"I fidget, I'm a fidgeter"  that makes me smile inwardly at odd times :)

DFRPG / updating?
« on: May 14, 2009, 05:15:41 AM »
Presumably Mr Butcher isn't going to stop creating monsters and factions to see and read about, so is there going to be an updated edition of the RPG covering whatever comes up in the novels after the initial printing?  Just curious :)

youtube is probably the most ubiquitous place to put them, even though there might be a better out there.  I know personally i would be more likely to rewatch it all if they are on youtube.  Thanks for the taping!

I had fun out at the store last night, though I get the feeling Jim has to field a lot of the same questions every time.  I hope he makes lexington a regular part of his signing tours in the future!

"Would listen to again, A++"? ;)

I'm glad to see some other forum people are making it out.  I live in the area so this will be one of my few chances to make it to a signing, see you there!  --Star Controller

Site Suggestions & Support / international Dresden books

Just a thought Iago,  How about for Jim's books that have translations, showing those alongside the normal english versions on the website?  So if you're thinking of getting say, a Spanish speaker into Dresden, you could find out how many of the books have been translated of Jims, and what they look like!  That's my idea for the month.  --Star Controller

Well... either Wikipedia's been having some fun with you... or you're having some fun with us :)
You want to read the TPB Amazing Spider-Man: Coming Home By JM Straczynski
It covers the Morlun issues, and is a darn good Trade Paperback as well.

Nice show there, though filling most of the show with the chapter preview made it only about 1/2 an episode.  imho.

the thing about graphic novel formats is that they are just that, graphic.  the artist makes or breaks a comic, though i am loathe to admit it.  If it was done well art-wise (im visualizing something like the Batman Hush style)  and Butcher put forth his writing abilities, it would soar.  If it comes out looking like the New Mutants comics of the 80's and 90's.... it'd be rough.  course, I'm sure some people are ga-ga over that style and disagree with my assessment.  Someone had to have bought that comic, it lasted for a while.  It would need to be a different part of the  Dresden-verse imo.  Like the Ragged Angel stuff.  If he started sticking dresden comics between the novels chronilogically, it would give me for one a headache.

The Butcher Block / Re: Your Episode Ideas Here
« on: December 26, 2006, 09:45:47 PM »
I think we need an episode discussing what to read/watch between Dresden Files book or episodes.  Other authors that qualify, as Mickey describes them, as 'wordsmiths' TV shows that hit the same vibe.  Where to go when waiting in essence. :)

Kudos on the episodes thus far.  I've enjoyed them.  I agree with the 1/2 an hour length to shoot for.  episode 1 seemed pretty long, though im not normally a podcast person, so i'm not used to 1hour+ shows.

Am I the only one who actually misses having only those avatars they had put there for us to use?  No offense Lord Nedd, but your oh-so-tall picture is weirding me out....
