DF Spoilers / Re: Justine Nemfected from the beginning?
« on: May 22, 2021, 01:21:13 PM »
But why would the Reds kidnap her then in Grave Peril? If she was already nemfected before, she would have been in the correct place already. They kidnapped her an Susan, but did apparently nothing to Justine while on the other hand they turned Susan. Why kidnap Justine in the first place, if not to put Nemesis inside? So Nemesis was inside Justine and held her stable until Blood Rites, when Thomas nearly killed her. I'm convinced, Thomas would not have been able to stop himself, true love or not. He didn't even remember, he stopped feeding. I think, Nemesis pushed him back, to keep Justine alive. And I have the suspicion, Nemesis and the Outsiders created this situation, so that N. would have the opportunity to leave Justine by herself for a while (explanation: almost death by White Court feeding), so he could concentrate into playing out his scheme with Lea in that time and setting up his plans with Maeve.
I think, Justine was and is the main host, planted in 'the middle', able to get in contact with most players, just an innocent and harmless human 'doe' with questionable sanity. People would talk carelessly in her presence and she could transport Nemfection to every being that needed to be controlled, without anyone thinking twice about her weird behaviour.

Further I think Lea was just a distraction for Mab. She should think, she succeeded in exorcising the Walker, and be occupied as long as needed with the deed, so he had time to prepare his real plans.

It is a possibility. But personally I am thinking that she has been nemfected in Grave Peril. Thomas was telling Harry, that the Rampires wanted Justine for something. I have to look it up.
So I thought they wanted her because she was the perfect host to Nemesis. He wouldn't have to deal with a personality that fights being possessed. And they (whoever 'they' are. The Lords of Outer Night perhaps, working with the Outsiders and the Black Court) wanted her in the inner circle of the White Court, because the Whites are a danger to the Outsiders. Why? Don't know. Maybe because some of them or even all of them are involved in the Oblivion War.

Edit: found it: it was Justine herself who said it. OK. This makes me doubt. But here it is:

Quote
Justine said, “It’s me. It’s my fault. Bianca wanted me to come be hers. But Thomas found me first. She hasn’t forgiven him for it. She calls him a poacher.”

Gawain in the garden demands the back door to be opened. Walks through the living room to the front door and demands us to open it. He can walk around the house but...
LOL. Bella has a cat door. She either does her rounds meowing to be let out the terrace door to go in again through the cat door into the basement and from there through the inner cat door into the house and out again through the terrace door (except there is by chance someone near the front door to open it for her).
Or the other way around.
Sometimes I let her out through the terrace door, there is an unnoticed time lapse and suddenly she appears behind me and wants to go out the terrace door again. Or I have let her in and suddenly she appears outside the door meowing to be let in.

This way I accidentally let in the wrong red tomcat once. I only noticed when I heard threatening snarling in the living room. Oops. Two red cats. Only one of them living here. LOL

Edit: I'm sure Mister suddenly just appears inside the castle or at the Carpenter's.

Hey guys! Just dropping in to say hello! I had a busy time. Work related. But it's OK now.

Great match, Dina. Congratulations!

Poor puppy, poor cat, Fcrate. Hope they get better soon.

Hah, the benefits of online learning. Let me guess. Pijama bottoms? :D
LOL
I often go to work the nightshift in my pajamas. But unly those who look like loose jogging clothes, well OK, that's because some ARE jogging clothes. Only on weekends, when the risk is not so high that I am seen by too many people. That way I can just fall into bed, when I arrive at home.

Mean, weird!
We watched Neverending Story yesterday. The little one asked at the end "what? That's it? Where is the rest?"
I have seen the movie first as a child and read the book years later. For me it was more like "cool, there is more."

Today it's Mothers' Day.
They made breakfast with coffee and Prosecco. I feel very happy and loved.
This afternoon we are going to the grandparents. I'm baking a plum cake now with last year's plums.

Me too. I'm going to finish Mercy Thompson, then maybe start with Sanderson and after that, I will continue the reread of the DF with Changes to Battle Ground. But I will listen to the audio books this time. I still have not listened to BG, at least I can't remember.

I reread BG over the past couple of days. It's a hard book to read. Lots of bad shit happens.
My condolences. ;)
It took me a while to recover from reading it.
A friend asked me two days after I was finished, how it was. And I said, puh, I can't talk about it yet. I need some time to get over it.

Edit: oh now I see. You said REread. But still... ;)

Also, how is Neverending Story going?
She has finished the audio book. She liked it, though she was afraid of the Gmork. I can understand that. He was in a lot of my nightmares, too, when I was her age.
I've found the movie. I hope we will be able to watch it this weekend.

I didn't know about Star Wars Day. Now I do. Thanks. ;)

I am well, thank you, but I am worried because several persons I know are with Covid (with a different degree of seriousness).
Oh, that's sad. I hope they'll be better soon.

I have news about the old woman my mother is taking care of: She is back home!!!! We didn't think we would ever see her again. She had covid and was in a coma.
She is not well and she needs more help now than before but she is at home. She even went to the supermarket. My mother was angry with her about that, because she is still so weak. Usually one of the neighbours including my mother goes shopping for her or with her, but she went alone. And she bought some chocolate for the kids.

May the 4th be with you!
Facepalm! LOL. It took me a while to get that!

It's extremely hot here these days. 40-44 °C. My pool is getting a workout.
:o OMG that's really hot. Enjoy your pool!
It is cold and wet here again. But my vegetables are growing well. I hope there will be sunny days next week.

Could be that my little one can go to school again next week. They do tests twice a week, which is good. And I hope the vaccine will soon be allowed for children, too.

Also I think that there might be more children from older wizards, but they would only mention those with magical talent. All the others would have died long ago. Some wizards look out for their descendants without them knowing, some might take an active role as the old great-uncle or aunt. But I can imagine that most old wizards have lots of human descendants.
And I can understand why they might only take notice of the wizard level ones.
It would be to protect themselves from living through the aging and the deaths of dozens or hundreds of children and grandchildren. So you would do better to keep yourself sane, if you didn't attach yourself to those of your children who won't live a wizard's lifespan.

I think this is what McCoy was doing all the time. Who knows how many non magical kids he had before Margaret LeFay. I can't remember if it was in one of the short stories or in one of the microfictions or even in Peace Talks (I think it was in PT during Harry's and Eb's talk in the svartslf embassy apartment), but I got the strong impression that Eb was used to the tradition of giving away your child to be raised far away from you without knowledge that magic even exists. And to watch and wait, if the child develops magical talent. If it doesn't, the parent turns away and leaves the child to grow old. But if it does, the wizard-parent would make sure, the child is properly educated in the magic, either by themself or by another adequate teacher.

McCoy did that with his daughter and he did it with Harry. And maybe even Harry's Mother would have left him with Malcolm, had she survived, until bis magic kicked in, because it is tradition to do it that way.

And thinking about it, I could imagine that it would probably be the male wizards who have more children, because as a female wizard I would not think it funny to go through 20 or more pregnancies and births in my life. And I would not be able to just leave the kids with their fathers, once I have given birth to them. A male wizard can just make love with a woman and leave her pregnant. Child care problem solved automatically.  ;)

Cinder Spires Books / Olympian Affair - what's the current status?
« on: April 30, 2021, 03:09:38 PM »
So, has anybody found anything about how his advance is with Olympian Affair?
There has been no update on his website for 4 months. I've found nothing new on youtube.
I thought his progress with the book would be interesting to know. I mean like "is he still writing?"
"is he done writing and the editing process has begun?"
Things like that. ;)
