CD Book Club / Re: Cold Days Book Club - Chapters 45-53 **MAJOR SPOILERS**

Can you imagine being at Disneyland that day, though. Just a pallor of fear surrounding everything. Kids coming out of the Haunted House Gibbering. The Matterhorn Yeti finally catching a victim...

DFRPG / Re: How do White Court Vampires procreate?
« on: November 26, 2012, 03:09:44 PM »
Jim specifically addressed the love of a parent to child as not insulating the child from Wampires. It's not a love between equals. If B is possible, I think it would have to be during the mortal lifetime of the Wampire, mostly because of menopause. It's possible that Wampire females remain fertile by producing new eggs, but I would suspect that isn't the case.

I don't think C is possible. They probably need mortals to procreate. I think a great number of creatures in the DV need mortals for procreation. The creation of new life is probably closely tied to mortality. Jim said somewhere that Mab could replenish her ranks relatively quickly, but it was through the use of changelings. I'm sure there are some creatures that do not use this method to reproduce, but we haven't seen any evidence of that.

Harry was only mostly dead.  There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead.
Every indication that we have is that Kemmler is all dead.  And sure, we shouldn't completely trust Jim but so far he hasn't outright lied to us either.

Would you agree that Corpstaker was all dead or mostly dead?

Not anywhere near the same as d-e-a-d Dead, apparently.

Wrong quote Dragoneyes, sorry. The one requested is several years old.

That's cool. This is the one I was referring to.

TheCuriousFan previously asked me to provide a link/quote to Jim saying that after I touted that WoJ. I couldn't find it though. Could you provide a link/quote?

Quote
domino7: 2) How do you feel when people keep talking about Justin/Kemmler/Others as being not REALLY dead even after you've said that they're dead? Flattered that they think you're twisty and devious? Annoyed that they don't take a hint?
Jim: 2) Oh, man, /I/ wouldn't trust me, if I was reading me. I tell giant, complicated, long-term LIES for a living, man. People pay me to manipulate their emotions--to make them laugh and cry, to cheer for the good guys and to hate the bad guys. What kind of person /does/ that for a living? I'll tell you what kind: the shifty, devious, untrustworthy kind. Don't believe a word I say. And they're Dead.
But there are levels of Dead, obviously. So was Harry.

Jim also just recently pointed out, in reference to that same point, that Harry was D-E-D Dead as well.

Just cast all of the Kardassians as the various Raith sisters. Would even explain why they are famous.

That's true enough, though I'm sure each of these groups do have their own criteria for membership and the Wizards probably have tomes and tomes of writings on what constitutes humanity for First Law purposes.

Well biologically speaking.....

Anyone who can breed with humans and get fertile offspring is a human ;D

So the Fae are human, as are the White Court Vamps and the Grendel scion that Harry and Gard killed?

Author Craft / Re: Technomancy
« on: April 12, 2012, 11:39:22 AM »
I dont think so, since it was all just advanced technology; the mystical element was supplied by the Force. I would define SW as normal sci fi.  I see the Matrix as closer to Technomagic since it allows one to affect an alternate reality built by technology- or something along those lines, since I never watched the movies, I cant say.

I could not describe SW as normal sci-fi. It was fantasy in space. Still wasn't technomancy though.

It would have to be "Dying Again"

Interesting. I did my undergraduate all online. That was my experience. Where it was lacking was in actually teaching me anything.  But, it might have to do with the school and its online climate. Might be something to research if you go back for another degree.

I understand what you mean. If you are just trying to check the block, I seriously recommend online courses. Fewer idiots, assignments more clearly laid out, you can get it done ahead of time if you like. That kind of thing.

I, on the other hand, absolutely loved college and have been going continuously since 2000, while working.
