Maybe I'll be able to catch the Jiminator this time around. Glad it's Beaverton Powells, much more room to park :)
-
Awesome, I missed Jim last year and my insides died a little (I think it might have been a chunk of the spleen).
-
Finally, Jim's coming to a place that I can get to within 2 hours. I'm so going if only to make my birthday 8 days later that much happier.
-
Nice to know he's gonna be here. It'd be nice to meet the man who just happens to be my favorite author.
-
:D Hurray! I can actually make it to this one!
-
Oh, cool. Good thing I took a look at stuff that was going on. I can go to this after school on Thursday.
-
Is there a limit on how many books we can get signed? I don't mean like, buy a couple dozen copies and get them signed, I mean like, bring some of my older Dresden books, and Codex books, and get them signed.
-
Man it was packed!
He's probably still there signing.
I will have video uploaded tonight, I'll post the link soon.

It was still awesome, anyway! ;D
Just be happy it wasn't at City of Books in Portland.
-
Did you guys see that one girl who had him sign her arm? I think I heard her say something about a tattoo. But ya, I got there at like 5 and half of the chairs were already full. It was insane.

I especially liked the quotes:
One of the titles Jim wanted for the first Dresden book (Storm Front): Abracadaver
"We haven't really run into anything that can kill Mister at this point" (Dresden's large-and-in-charge house cat)
He was thinking of ending the series "with a 3 book apocolyptic capstone... *duh dunduh*... with music by John Williams"
Responding to whether he hates Dresden, considering how hard he treats the poor guy: "I want him to succeed, and to do that he must have great pain"
"I don't have writer's block, I have a mortgage"
"The iPad typing thing doesn't work that well for lots of dialog"
Editor: "I want you expand these four subplots, and make it 50 pages shorter" Jim: "so you want the book bigger, but smaller?" Editor: "yes, and please hurry"
About writing parts of Changes: "Boom, boom... I felt like the special effects guy from Tropic Thunder"

Listening now. This is great! Thanks so much, Hagbard Celine!
BWAHA, he finally read "Mistborn"! My poking campaign worked!
I went to a Brandon Sanderson signing back in November. Brandon had just devoured and loved the first two Dresden books, so I asked him to sign a copy of "Mistborn" for Jim. Brandon thought it was hilarious. Glad to hear Jim enjoyed it!

Ah, gee, I was wondering why that image was getting so many views suddenly, thanks :)
Hagbard Celine: Excellent video! I'll have to watch it later and maybe I can revise my quote list... makes me feel almost silly for trying to short-hand a bunch while listening from the back ;)
Big crowd last night, people in the back were starting to get a bit grumpy as we tried to work out the shift forward method of making a "line". If it seemed I contributed to that at all, I apologize, I was dead tired and kind of a zombie, so probably not in my most polite mood. Wish I could have had the brain power to actually have an exchange with Jim, he seems like a great guy. I almost didn't make it cause I was on the verge of falling asleep at home, but I'm glad I did.

Ha! You see the dark blue hat at the bottom of the panoramic? That's the back of my head. =B

Hagbard Celine, you are my hero! Thanks so much for not only taking great video with clear sound, but also for sharing it with everyone.

No problem :)
I got there around 5:30 and it was already packed. One of my D&D buddies goes to just about *every* reading at that Powells and he saved me the last seat in the 2nd row. I had to shoot between two heads (who talked to each other a few times) but I think it worked out fine.
Glad I could be of some help. :)

Dammit, it would be much easier for me if this was at the Powell's downtown. On a weeknight around rush hour, Beaverton might as well be the moon.
Christ on a raft, I'm an idiot. I only just now noticed the date.
