He might be deceased already. I don't remember the names, was Omogh the one who who Etri capped in Bombshells after Molly spoiled his treachery?

Just did a very quick scan of Bombshells and I don't think the Fomor lord there is ever named. Molly just refers to him as "Lord Froggy" throughout and there are just general mentions of The Fomor. Interestingly Listen here seems to be quite keen on obeying "The Empress" rather than his direct superior and he argues that making the bomb would go against The Empresses plans to the chagrin of Froggy.

Good Grief!  Some of it sounds like crap!  As in throw in everything but the kitchen sink crap.  I hope it doesn't read that way.  Will try and reserve judgement, but still... :o ???

It didn't read that way at all, to me. I really would wait until you've had a chance to read it. As a fan it was just a lot of very exciting moments of getting what a lot of us have been asking for, and making up for the somewhat slower Peace Talks.

DF Spoilers / HUGE BATTLE GROUND SPOILERS - (Un)Answered questions
« on: September 29, 2020, 03:27:56 PM »
Wow, so Battle Ground was the quite the ride. In my opinion well worth waiting for and been split from Peace Talks because a *lot* happened there.

So Battle Ground provided quite a bit of exposition and answered some questions that have been discussed a lot on here before, as well as some events that people had predicted:

- Murphy's death and ascending to Einherjar...dom
- Marcone did take up Thorned Namshiel's coin (interesting to look back at Skin Game with the Denarian involvement with this in mind?)
- We finally got to see Drakul! It's interesting because I had always interpreted WoJ re the Black Court to suggest Drakul didn't have much to do with it and Dracula had run away from him to form it. This suggests Dracula isn't really involved (or even un-alive) as Drakul seems to be very past-tensey about him.
- Pretty much word for word confirmation Mac is an (ex)Angel.
- Confirmation Justine is Nemfected

The reveals just kept coming, I couldn't put it down (happily took the day off work).

Anything other readers have been waiting to see or questions that were answered? And what questions do people want answered subsequently?!

Quote:"He's already Kringle when Kringles around...When he's acting in his role of Kringle he takes on the Kringle Aspect when he's doing that he's got all the power of a major lord of The Kringle is what Odin does to keep from dying of old age."

I don't doubt Vadderung is definitely more mortal than some of the other beings in the series we've seen. But I do wonder about the old age thing. I read this more as a metaphor for immortals 'growing old' and dying out because nobody worhsips them anymore. To me that says Kringle is Vadderung's way of having mortals know about him and pay him tribute (in milk and cookies). Since there aren't many Odin worshipers in the world anymore.

I think some people are reading a bit too much into this? I just dug out the quote and it seems she's just admiring another wizard's craftmanship:

'Complex' she replied 'Balanced, strong, sophisticated...it took real skill'

This to me simply reads 'Elaine sees new bracelet, recognises focus is quite complex, is probably impressed Harry (who is usually more of a brute force guy) made something quite so delicate.

I mean, having to move up a step and be replaced as Queen by the Lady is exactly what would happen if Mab did pull off a coup on Mother Winter...

I'd call it inconclusive from the given info. Kringle and Vadderung are "technically" separate characters too, and I'd almost be surprised if both the Mothers don't have a range of different hats they can put on.

Very true! They are thematically very similar characters so it wouldn't surprise me.

Been gone for a while but has anyone made the obvious connection to Baba Yaga?

Also Nox seems like a fitting one also. The first night who birth death destruction sleep dreams and pretty much everything that makes the world work. A primal goddess (if thats even what she was) older than the titans who's father was the raw chaos from which everything was formed. Even Zeus wouldn't mess with her

Baba Yaga seems to be a separate entity. Jim once used her as an example of mantle gaining (I think it was something like, if Mab offed Baba Yaga, she would have to become her, and the Winter Lady would get a promotion). The RPG also mentions her as a separate character, an incredibly powerful and mysterious maybe-fae who Simon Pietrovich is pretty terrified by.

DF Spoilers / Re: Is Lea stronger than the Winter Lady?

"Indeed," she said. "And your godmother, your teacher and guide, is the most vicious creature of Mab's Court, more than Maeve's equal, second in strength only to Mab herself."

Ah maybe I was misremembering in that case. I thought there was a mention of this when Mab was permitting Lea to go with the group to Chichen Itza.

I think I remember Lea saying that she recently acquired significant power in the winter court, upsetting the balance. I don't recall exactly the situation, but didn't Mab act to balance the scales and disinfect (heh) Lea? If that's correct then the situation where Lea is stronger than the Winter Lady is no longer.

The only thing with this is, iirc Mab describes Lea as 'second only to me in power' in Changes. After she's been cured. I could be misremembering that.

What I think is important to consider is how long Lea has been doing this, how many favours and bargains she is owed, and how much power she must have amassed as Mab's second in command. Compared to Maeve who squandered her powers and neglected her role, yeah Lea is definitely stronger.

A Black Dog shows up in the "Welcome to the Jungle" graphic novel too.

And a couple of them make a brief appearance on Demonreach in Cold Days before Harry reaches the Ladies.

I don't think they are new at all, I think they use whoever, in this case children to taken down their victim.

Sorry, I wasn't clear, new to the story. Not new to the world.

12
I think they're related, but unique creatures. Haunts whittle down children by presenting them with their fears to take possession of them. A Baku-Baku feeds off of fears of children (and adults) by causing them nightmares. They're both phobophages, but their modus operandis seem different. Haunts also seem to be a new type of creature that exclusively feed on children and can be seen by them (as hinted by Jim several times before when he's spoken about a potential young adult series).

DF Spoilers / Re: Zoo Day spoilers

1] What is the Book that Maggie was given by the Carpenter kids?  Since it was capitalized was it the Bible or a book of Catechism?  But Maggie's quotes from it didn't fit exactly, wonder if Michael and Charity with help wrote up a kid's version because the children of a Holy Knight could face a lot of crap and needed a guide to cope..

Seemed to me to be a compendium of creatures that only kids could see. Created by Molly as a child and passed down through the Carpenter siblings to provide information once the older children had forgotten those creatures and couldn't see them anymore. Makes sense for a family who's father battled monsters all the time.

2) Mouse has TWO siblings missing... someone wants to breed evil foo dogs - that's news?

This was the most interesting part of the short for me. Especially 'Taken by figures in dark robes, male and female,' . It absolutely screamed Cowl and Kumori. Cowl has already set himself up to be a true nemesis to Harry, so why not give him a 'Dark Mouse' to boot.

There was a WOJ that the first time they were just hyper-horney teenagers drunk at a party.  Love came later, but her Hunger had already had it's first feed by then.  Cant seem to find it atm, I thought it was in the index.

Ah I see, thanks for that! I remembered it being discussed at the time it originally came out but likewise couldn't find anything when I did some digging.
