So, in Changes Harry threatened he'd hurt Marcone until he gave him what he wanted. Now, obviously Marcone handled it in a professional 'saintly' manner as usual, but what if for some reason - both men came to odds right there. Yes, unlikely - just ya know? What if circumstances were different and they had.

Marcone is armed with weaponry of course (guns, knives, whatever he'd come equipped with), Hendricks and Gard are with him. He is also - of course, aware his meeting Harry and has taken proper precautions.

Dresden is alone at start, but Molly isn't far away (in the car outside- if I recall) may enter the fray possibly. This is them both at their Changes power level - Pre - Winter Knight Harry

Harry is fighting for information and is willing to go all out

Marcone and company are fighting for kill

Starting Location: Burger King

DF Spoilers / Re: Marcone's Age @ SF
« on: September 27, 2017, 09:15:22 PM »
I can't buy him being over 31-35 in SF. Okay, a little - but it in my head it fits more. Of course, this is fiction and Marcone has displayed some slightly superhuman feats. He's extremely athletic.

Able to speed attack supernatural creatures with knife attacks, dodge an attacking flying Nicodemus, throw a knife through a rope, jump across a detaching train. He's done several things physically early in the series which points to him being younger.

Not to say someone upper middle aged and over can't be physically capable, but it catches up to you, does it not? Murphy for example - a big part about last book was her injury and her getting older. Harry and Murphy are about the same age - Marcone has anywhere from five to twenty years on them (we'll assume based on this thread) yet has consistently shown to have superior reflexes, physical prowess, and speed in some regards.

So, it can be pretty easy to figure out.

He could have started his criminal career early, joined the Marines -served his time for the minimum, and Vargrassi war kicked off when he returned or not soon after.

Well, in regards to Marcone's age - I always liked to think of him at thirty or very early thirties at the start of the series. At least five years or so on Harry.

Marcone was a solider in Vietnam? That doesn't sound right. I think WOJ was a Marine, but was it specified it was Vietnam?

So, to make up for my previous thread which seems mixed. I've decided on making this thread. I also posted it up on another website and they seemed to enjoy it.

So, let's break things down.

John Marcone with current knowledge, his own personality and in his physical prime replaces Ned Stark as Hand of the King to Robert Baratheon and Lord of Winterfell. He'll be replacing Ned directly at the start of A Game of Thrones.

Marcone has the same knowledge Ned has at the start of the series (in terms of knowing Westeros history, players, shakers, and that the former Hand was likely killed), same resources, and same connections that Ned had as well at the start of the series.

We'll saY the Stark's family personality is more aligned with Marcone's. Obviously, still honorable but Marcone's sort of honor.

Okay.

So, can John Marcone survive and be victorious where Ned Stark failed to do or would he lose his head and be eaten by crows?

How would he deal with the various threat that have cropped up in The World of Ice and Fire?

I figured this one doesn't need a poll as it is more of a scenario for discussion.

In other words, can a vanilla mortal that happens to be moderately intelligent defeat a 2,000 year old immortal that's immune to physical damage, has the knowledge of a fallen angel, has the power to manipulate shadows, has at least a dozen mortal servants and a few demonic creatures, and has anywhere from three to a dozen fellow fallen angels working with him in any given book?

 >:(

Recall, Tavi has Harry's resources. Knights of the Cross, Murphy, Thomas, Kincaid, and may move them and use them to his advantage as he wants. I can turn on Fury Crafting but I figured Tavi would sweep with that. What do you think?

Also, Tavi is quite a bit above moderate intellect.  I do believe you aren't giving him enough credit in that area.

Also, there is more to defeating someone than killing them. This is not a straight up meet in a ring fight as other battles are I've done. I mean that works but there are other ways. Marcone managed to use his intellect (with help of course) against Nicodemus and survived a physical encounter with him. Harry has also used his intelligence to outgambit Nicodemus.

DF Spoilers / Butcher Battle 17#: Tavi vs Nicodemus
« on: July 19, 2017, 09:35:17 PM »
Tavi and Nicodemus sqaure up against one another in a composite universe. (As in DF - Alera crossover world or something).

Nicodemus has knowledge of Tavi's past and is aware of his extreme intellect. So assume Nicodemus is taking precautions. Tavi, in turn, is aware of the temptation Nicodemus can offer and his fearsome reputation. Obviously, assume both men have knowledge of magic, furies, modern world, Alera world, and all.

Both have equal knowledge of this fusion setting.

Both may gain more knowledge of each other within their three combat encounters in the same way Harry and Nic have.

Tavi HAS Fury Crafting

R1
Tavi replaces Harry in Death Masks.

Can he outwit a Nicodemus, survive and foil his plan?

R2

Tavi replaces Harry in Small Favor

Can he outwit Nicodemus, survive and foil his plan?

R3

Tavi replaces Harry in Skin Game

Can he manage to get into the vault, stay true to Mab's word, outwit Nicodemus and survive?

NOTE - Assume in all three rounds that Tavi has the same help and friends Harry did and Nicodemus has the same resources in Death Masks, Small Favor, and Skin Gam respectively.

R4

Neither men have any knowledge of each other, both get one week prep to learn what they can and then play in Chess. Who wins?

Note- Assume Tavi knows the game of Chess of course
