Title: Site Safety
Post by: Enjorous on December 06, 2010, 09:08:12 PM
My browser (Google Chrome) keeps warning me about this site being unsafe. It's warning me that the site is connected to a second site that has been known to have malware.

Is this a glitch in my browser or has the security of the site been breeched. If I get the error again I'll make sure to copy and paste the entire message.

I need it to be specific about what this second site is, because I see absolutely no signs of this on my end.

Have also just logged in using Chrome and see no sign of it whatsoever.

I've seen the error about three times now, posted after the third viewing.

If I see it again I will copy and paste the site and the entire warning.

And it happened when I moved from board to board, not just logging on. I'll make sure to update as soon as I see it again.

Could it be that someone's linking in their sig, or avatar, or similar, and you're triggering it whenever you run across them? Regardless, the error isn't being produced by any invasive alteration of the system's files, so it may simply be Chrome or whatever being moody. I need a specific citation of what this "second site" is that's triggering it -- no easy way to search for this issue otherwise. But I can't reproduce it at home.

It could be, but I've been going through the threads I remember seeing the error in and one of them was just entering the board "Story of us" and I've been trying to recreate the error since then.

Hm.  I use Chrome on my home computer.  I'll have to check when I get home and see if I get it.

I'm running chrome and I have never gotten that error from this sight. Only thing I get is a weird jumping in the chat when someone posts other then that smooth sailing. I'd run a check on your system Enj just to be safe.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's a glitch. But once is luck, twice is coincidence and thrice is a pattern.

Technology vehemently hates me.  Just assume it's my fault.  :P

I've killed the card swiper at stores while checking out.  The clerk had to shut down and move to a different register - while the ten people behind me in line glared at me.   :-[

I have the same problem.  I'm the beta tester for new technology at work...if anyone can kill an electronic device through normal, noninjurious use, it's me.  Maybe we're wizards under it all, eh, Chiro?

I just got the same error message Piotr go specifically on page 2 of that thread. Lots of pictures there I'd guess it's the hosting sight for the images maybe?

I hadn't been in that thread so I figured I'd take a look and I got it to so I put 2 and 2 together. I hope I helped you narrow it down a bit more.

Tektek is where avatars like mine come from, I think.

Same error message I got all three times, but today I hadn't visited that particular thread.

I imagine once the firewall "learns" that there are images on here which are "bad", it might flag the site for a while. Dunno.
