Jim has just admitted to his fondness for the tinfoil hat. Any of you avatar geniuses up to the task? :)

I suggest seasonal hats. A nice Santa number for December, followed by something with a New Years theme--perhaps a top hat? For Easter maybe rabbit ears?  ;)

I seem to be terribly fond of the word actually.  I actually use it in sentences all the time.  It is actually something of a problem.   ::)

My -1 message has suddenly disappeared! Just when I was getting used to seeing it.  Did we have a message fairy come and wave a wand?  ???

Again, I think you can't discount the emotional attachment folks have to the traditional written word. How many of you have books that you have kept from childhood? Musty, mildewed, beloved friends that your heirs will probably burn when you finally go to your reward (or maybe sell for a fortune). :)

The newspaper world is already suffering from the loss of revenue as a result of internet news services. As long as there are bibliophiles, e-books will only be one of a myriad of choices. The love and ownership of physical books is part of an emotional attachment that developes between the author and the reader. It simply cannot be duplicated digitally, IMO. I also find it very hard to cuddle up to my monitor with a cup of tea on a cold winter evening. Not the same sensual experience as reading a traditional book.

I have read several of your books written under the Amanda Ashley name and have enjoyed them very much. Thank you for giving me many hours of pleasure.  :)

My opinion is that the whole paranormal sub genre sprung from some basis in Bram Stokers Dracula legend--which is very strongly sexual. It fits most easily into the romance genre and many of the best selling authors of paranormals come from romance writing backgrounds, either in mystery or fantasy. The type of books that these authors write seem to appeal more strongly to women and the publishers market these books specifically toward the female reader. Obviously the genre does not have to depend on romance, based on Jim's success, but it seems that few male authors have been  drawn to this genre.

I'll be the first to tell you I'm not an expert but I do read a lot and I post on many boards and on a lot of them readers are getting tired of paranormals. It is becoming hard to find anything new that has not been done by someone else and done better. For that reason, I think the paranormal has crested and will begin to give way to another fav, and I think it may be the supernatural. One opinion among many.  ;)

Novium, the books you are thinking of are by Julie Kenner and the first of the series is entitled Carpe Demon, Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom.  Very light and amusing. I personally don't like the Banks series but it is much darker.
