DF Reference Collection / Re: He Couldn't Lose [SG Spoilers]
« on: June 20, 2015, 09:34:56 PM »
just guessing here. using my vast MMO gaming experience and DnD lore/ knowledge base. 8) ;) ::) :P

 Thorn Crown :Christ was given the Crown before his march w/ the Cross. could it have some type of enh stamina/ endurance thing, pain suppression, damage mitigation? sort of like the Winter Mantle but not coming from the individual but the faith magic. something cleansing like also might fit. also was supposed to be a joke calling him the king of the Jews. might it also project and aura that aids/ supports allies?

Shroud of Turin : healing and resurrection I am thinking. they way I see it maybe the one previously seen is not the true Shroud but one of 2 other possibilities. one is a wrap used to cover a persons head before they are enshrouded. the other is the cloth used by the woman who wiped Jesus' face on his march w/ the Cross. this would explain why the Shroud did not work on Persephone, it was not the true Shroud. it might have the faith juice but not the true power of resurrection imbued within the one Harry just got. makes me wonder if he will try it on her to test it and get Marcone to owe him again.

the Plaque. : wonder if it some type of item that would allow someone to learn the true name of someone, even it's pronunciation. used in sealing someone or their powers, bind them/ entrap them.

the Knife/ Spearhead of Longinus : standard myth is it allows the user to become unbeatable. I think it is like Quantus was saying. something like and anti-entropy curse thingy. if anyone is a Marvel fan out you will recognize these two, Longshot and Domino, they had probability altering fields which had things go the right way for them in random situations. also the thing about it being able to kill anything even god-like beings fits it also.

Chalice : most myths involving this talk about healing/ rejuvenation/ immortality. wonder if this would be able to cleanse Black Magic taint or used to help Harry get rid of the WK Mantle?

just some WAGs but think a few might be close.

hmm ok.
first off I do like the idea of the spearhead of the Spear of Destiny being the knife and maybe giving Harry and edge kinda interesting. could also be why Nico wanted it. with that and his noose he would than become pretty much unstoppable.

now as to the Bodkin and vault blade.
sorry but I do not see how or why the Bodkin would be in the vault at all. it is in Mab's possession. another thing, the items have to do with Christianity, the Bodkin does not have anything to do with it.

Changes the blade is a bronze leafhead blade with a wooden handle wrapped in cord and leather.
SG the blade is a leafhead blade with a wooden handle. no mention of cord or leather. you do not go around altering relic of power.

Changes the Bodkin had a bloodthirsty feel to it. "energy surged through the little blade, power that was unfettered and wild, that mocked limits and scoffed at restraint. not evil, as such- but hungry and filled with desire to partake in its portion of the cycle of life and death. it thirsted for bloodshed." that does not sound at all like a holy relic.

SG when he scans the objects he relates their power to Amoracchius, a holy relic. when he touches the knife he would recognize the power. "even that brief contact was like touching a live wire. tingles flew up my arm and set every hair of my body on end." does not sound like the blood thirsty effect from the Bodkin, but from what he has felt previously from Amorachius. GP ".. it fairly hummed with power, vibrating in my fingers." than later, "something that hummed quietly, a silent vibration of power that ran through the plastic and into my hand. a vibration I recognized." "still, it buzzed with that quiet, deep power, at once reassuring and intimidating."

when Harry states that the bronze hilt clicked against his brace, I have to believe that is an error. since the handle was already described as a wooden one. hilt- noun, the handle of a weapon or tool, especially a sword, dagger, or knife. syn. handgrip. I think it was meant to be the crossguard or pommel that was bronze and tapped his brace. which seems more likely to hit the brace than the actual handle. unless the error is the handle description. in which case it is still not the Bodkin.

Mab owed Anduriel a favor from way back when she became watcher over the Outer Gates, there is a WOJ floating around about it from not that long ago. Nothing to do with Arctis Tor.
never seen it. i still stand behind Mab involved in it more so than an enemy attack. that reads more like deception than threat. if the debt is as you say, i can easily switch gears to a tricked Denarion lead/ Circle grp trying a fast strike to free Lea. they were set-up by Mab thus clearing the way for Harry.
cause seriously, you think Harry was getting in there if it wasn't wrecked?

ok. I always said that PG was the trickiest book yet. layers upon layers. this is a look at how Mab works. she and Titania worked out a deal or Mab calculated even better than I think.

the attack would never have won through. it was meant to allow Harry a chance to get Molly. Harry would never had been able to gain access and win through if the fortress wasn't hammered already. this was the favor Mab owed Nico I think.

I am a big sci-fi/ fantasy nut. I watched the show as it aired. was saddened it died. after it was done I was a grumpy geek. my sister found the book series an bought the first 3 in a boxed set. I was a happy camper. I also got her into the series an a few of my gamer friends, a couple non gamer friends too lol. I went back an watched the series and was kinda nitpicky but still enjoyed it. cannot wait for this to become a rocking series though. I think it would lose too much as a series of movies and the only way to go would be series similar to GoT or an animation. DF and WoT are in a mantra prayer I say at night I want brought out in a series. :D

sorry Loggia does not evoke a " Predator", feel. physically, appearance wise, nor otherwise. Jim Caviezel, when I see him doing POI I can totally get a Marcone feel from him.

I see Jeremy Irons as Grevane or as DuMorne.  I admit surprise that no one seems willing to consider Robert Loggia as Marcone, 'cause he's got that "quiet but deadly" persona down.  Read any lengthy dialogue by Marcone and imagine Loggia speaking the lines.  Fits perfectly.
cant picture him hanging upside down an throwing a knife, or swinging out of a copter w/ a rifle, or running along a train shooting tbh. it is more than just dialogue. he needs to do action and be fit. Loggia doesn't do it for me.

kk so did this quick so I could get the picks that popped into my head, figuring they would be the 1s to invoke the character more so.

Harry = Eric Balfour
Thomas = Jared Padalecki
Murphy = Emily Rose   (sorry she just fits in my mind as perfect )
Morgan = Idris Elba  (influenced by the TV show DF, also his attitude he gives in his roles fits )
Eb = Jim Beaver   (ever since I first read Eb he has fit the appearance an attitude best )
Molly = Kaley Cuoco   ( beautiful and has that sarcastic comedy down )
Lea = Angelina Jolie  (she seems a better choice for the playful Lea)
Mab = Charlize Theron  ( she would play the more serious Mab )
Merlin = Liam Neesim
Butters = Johnny Galecki or Brian Dietzen  (either 1 would be great they both evoke that image and attitude of Butters)
Nic = Mark Sheppard  (influenced by his roles in Leverage and Supernatural, he fits Nic in my mind)
Carlos = Wilmer Valderrama
Marcone = Jim Caviezel  ( was thinking George Clooney but he needed to be dangerous so Jim popped into mind )
Mac = Bruce Willis  ( influenced by someone else's post and couldn't deny it )
Susan = Sarah Shahi
Kincaid = Eric Christian Olsen   ( has the height and sandy blonde look, also tactical experience from NCIS LA )

I am intrigued by the League of Evil. JB says we would know some because they have appeared in the books already. I say Mavra, one of the Goblins from the encounter in Changes, Red Cap, and Talos. those are the ones I think so far. not majorly evil but might show..  Binder, Churchmouse,

ya it seems like Harry's time as a ghost was a major learning experience for him. he learned some of exerting his control over his surroundings like what was pointed out in the excerpt. so ya not only his starborn but his training in GS helps.

He so another idea revived. I'd noticed that the darkhallow had very similar form to an exorcism, what with the vortex. I had the idea that the darkhallow was simply a really big reverse exorcism adding in some of the evil aspects of tearing apart Memories and eating them rather than just binding them.  :o and I think I have the prof. Mort does the very thing I described, sans eating, with his guardian spirits. Perhaps most telling, he didn't just possess their knowledge but physical attributes combined. Kemmler must have expanded on this ectomantic trick. Small wag to round this line of thought off. The reason Mort is effected by the timeline fluctuations is because TTH goes back to learn the secrets of the hallow from him. More to come but i have to break it down.
the Darkhallow is in no way similar to an exorcism. one devours spirits to gain power and the other drives a spirit/ demon from someone /  or place. if it was a reverse exorcism it would be drawing spirits into people or a land to haunt it. the Darkhallow does not eat memories it devours the spirits of the dead and living. also it is not the same as Morts ability. darkhallow is the eating of souls for power while Mort uses the skills and knowledge of the spirits that he borrows.

there is no one individual. it is the circle.
belts were given to FBI agents an let loose. they were going after Marcone. Marcone who claimed Harry was working for him in SF which was where Bianca's aide was killed. she wanted revenge on Harry why not Marcone? also Reds were working to gain territory in Chicago while Marcone was holding them off. not saying Bianca created them but could have been motivational as to where they were aimed. than lets not forget the Bloodline curse is based fom the RCV.

remember the Outsiders look all chaotic an stuff but are big time team work faction. so why wouldn't their operatives? infected beings of differing factions work together. trying to hang it all on one person doesnt work for me. though Cowl seems to be the point man in certain missions.
