Wow, this is impressive.

Way to go, Fred and his Evil Hatans... Hatians???  Hatoid??? Hatlians??? :-\

Well, anyway, this is the first time that I can recall that any gaming company has been able to do this. ;D

Evil Hatters?

Regarding Weird and the like....would it be possible to set up such threads with a very short post life-span?  Something like, "All posts over 48 hours old are automatically deleted every night."?  This would (I think) be long enough to maintain the sense of community and conversation across time zones, but hopefully short enough to keep things fresh, and to keep the threads from getting too large.

Sorry if this has already been suggested and just won't work.

I'm in the process of sectioning off threads Jim has contributed to and moving them to the FAQ section (maybe there should be a Word of Jim sub-section?), but the effort has been stalled by some ominous deadlines IRL.

Just wondering - will this include threads that have book signing Q&A summaries?  They are still the Words of Jim.

I agree with Paynesgrey this place isn't just somewhere to go and talk about a book, its a place to connect with people who share a common interest. The Community is what makes this place different from other boards and gives it life, I have seen to many boards that only focused on a very narrow topic wither and die as people left them.

I agree too.  As for keeping it positive and supportive, the volunteer doorman idea sounds like it could work.

Building on the Poetry Corner idea, what about a Writer's Block?  Poetry and anything else we want to share (not including JB-related FanFic, which already has a home)

How about a "Fun Stuff Out There On the 'Net" section?  Always liked the LOLcats

Thanks for starting this thread. We are watching it and taking notes. The Summer assertion is correct as far as we know, though. (Chad did a lot of meticulous research when he documented the world.)

Aha - now I'm thinking it's a reference to the limited assistance Lily promised The Merlin while at Molly's trial, since she did refer to the White Council as "allies" at that point.  Guess Summer got tired of the Red Court's incursions into their territory.

As an aside, I'm thoroughly by first read-through of "Your Story" - especially Bob's comments (okay, Harry's too). Thanks for releasing it early!

If the comment refers to the events in SK, it was Winter who provided the access to the Ways.  In SK, Summer specifically refused to offer help, saying, "Queen Titania does not now, nor will she ever choose sides in the disputes of mortal and anthorphage.  She bids both Council and court alike to keep their war well away from the realms of Summer.  We will remain neutral."  (Ch 5, p 63 paperback)  Mab offered to let the Council travel through her realm if one request (which all soon learned meant Harry's service as her Emissary) was fulfilled (p 75).

As of the end of Harry's meeting with Mab, Harry had stated he would think about her request, and retained the option to refuse.  He didn't actually commit to taking on the task until the Gatekeeper made it his condition for voting in Harry's favor at the Council meeting.

Maybe the RPG text is referring to other help Summer provided, such as the battle against the Rampires mentioned in Proven Guilty?  I'd think that was more than mild assistance, but understatement is an art.

That's true, though the added benefit of a tracking number with UPS might make an argument in that favor... though it could be nearly double the cost. I'm exploring the options.

USPS does offer delivery confirmation on media mail packages. It would add a little extra $$ but not much ($0.80?)

I'm a bit nervous making this suggestion since I have no idea how they'd feel, but ... how about one of the existing mods?  Priscillie? Mickey?  They've already got the experience moderating on this forum ..

Hm. Perhaps I need to be clear:

I need a list of possible volunteers, who aren't currently forum-wide moderators, willing to take on the extra work of moderating a sub-forum. These people need to have a proven on-forum track record of being even-tempered and fair in conversations. I don't want to anoint a dictator.

Got it - sorry for my confusion.  "Dont want to anoint a dictator" - well that takes me out of the running!  8)

If you answer yes or no, the way the sentence is laid out, it could mean Yes to both, or no to both - So I'll wait till that's sorted...

Me too.
