DF Spoilers / Re: Why was Ferrovax in GP
« on: May 13, 2021, 02:16:50 AM »
Ya, I was thinking the same thing; I think it was said somewhere that Eldest Gruff is the opposite of Lea, so it would have been him if someone was there (probably).

I doubt Bianca had any idea just how important her party would be--sort of a fulcrum for all kinds of powers.

I thought the party was a setup so that the red court could start the war?

DF Spoilers / Why was Ferrovax in GP
« on: May 10, 2021, 07:21:14 PM »
During a recent re-read of GP, it struck me as odd that Ferrovax in at Bianca's party. Ferrovax is a god level being with great power and authority. So why was he invited to and accept an invitation to a medium (or low) powered member of the Red Court? From my POV, the only reason why Ferrovax was at the party was so Harry could meet him. Was this just a plot point that Jim planned out 10+ books in advance, or did Jim just want a dragon in his books? Any other ideas yall have?

I disagree, I think that the marriage is very important. Remember, these are old beings, and they play by old rules. In their eyes, marriage is much more sacred and special than how many of us see marriage. This will form a near unbreakable bond with the White Court. The thing I do not understand is why the White Court? Yes, Lara is smart and powerful, but at the end of the day, the White Court as a whole is not that impressive (IMO). Sure they have sex powers and can do some cool things but compared to other nations; they are not that great.

DF Spoilers / Harry's Vassal
« on: May 04, 2021, 04:03:00 PM »
I might have missed it, but when did Toot-Toot become Harry's Vassal? Was it just through all the pizza Harry gave him through the years, or is it more than that?

So her Walking Staff was stolen from her.  We know it's the Blackstaff, and she really wants it back.  It was implied she needs it to travel to Earth (I think)....  So if she were to get it back, would it be a good thing?  Or was it stolen because her having it is a bad thing?

Yes, she needs the Walking Staff to travel. How do we know it is the Blackstaff? Was it a WoJ?

DF Spoilers / Re: Marcone/Namshiel, It Seems Weird to Me...
« on: April 28, 2021, 09:59:39 PM »
We know that Nic and Anduriel work together as more of a symbiotic organism. This is different from many of the fallen, where it is a one-sided relationship. I think Marcone/Namshiel will be more on the symbiotic side. Marcone knows that Namshiel has the knowledge and power to get what he wants, and Namshiel knows that Marcone has the intelligence and resources to get stuff done. If both parties are happy, they could be a very dangerous combo (brains and strength), but if one is stronger than the other or if one is trying to remain in control, then they would be less effective but possibly more dangerous (just strength with no sense on how to regulate it).

DF Spoilers / Re: Harry will throw down with Leah - Jim
« on: April 28, 2021, 09:51:12 PM »
I won't be surprised, in fact I expect, that Harry will be upset when he learns about the details of Lea and Margaret's deal, but he will probably be most upset by how Lea interpreted the rules that governed her behavior after Margaret's death.

There is no way to be certain about this, but it could involve Lea looking the other way while Malcolm Dresden was murdered and perhaps making a deal with his killer because she judged that Malcolm Dresden was incapable of teaching Harry or guarding him while he was a child.  In this version of events Margaret failed to include protection for her husband as part of her deal because he wasn't a player in the supernatural world and normally wouldn't have been targeted.  My reason for this guess is that Jim has also stated that Margaret Le Fae didn't make the best deal she could have.

I agree that unless Harry becomes much more level-headed over the next book or two he is going to be pissed. I really like this theory.

DF Spoilers / Re: Goodman Grey - Yea, Nay or in-between - And more
« on: April 20, 2021, 10:14:29 PM »
But there are many threads that are very stale now. Where is Cowl and Kumori? What's the deal with the Elaine? How about the Black Council? We've seen the Denarians but what about the rest of Hell? The attack on Archangel, the attack on Arctis Tor, the origins of a bunch of species, the history with Merlin (and Mab), the involvement of humans with the supernatural (like the FBI getting belts), and Harry's mother's own history are all things that have been left hanging for a LONG time. Not to mention Harry talking with the actual White Council, not just Eb or Ramirez. What have they been up to? What's the Gatekeeper's position on recent events and what is his story? etc. etc.

I understand the sentiment; however, maybe some of these things are just what happened, and that's the way it is. The attack on Archangel could just have been an overwelling number of vampires attacking when it was least expected. Where/when would Harry talk with the (as the post said) actual White Council vs. Eb or Ramirez? Harry doesn't like the council, and the council doesn't like Harry; I don't think either would go out of their way to purposefully interact. Besides, we have several short shorties and in-book interactions with Wardens and the greater Council.

However, I completely agree that we need more information on Harry's mom and the Gatekeeper (would take a book about either of these characters).

DF Spoilers / Re: Mirror Mirror character changes ideas

Like the idea of Harry gaining knowledge so he might be prepared for the future, will the knowledge transfer over? Sure the character's names will be the same but will every detail be the same? With people just the opposite of what they are now ("good character" becomes "bad character")? Also, what about the neutral people?

DF Spoilers / Re: The Coins and Demonreach
« on: April 19, 2021, 12:23:24 AM »
What about not putting the just coins in Demonreach but putting the host with them. If I remember correctly, the Fallen always have their coins on them. So if Harry can get some of Nic's blood, then he could theoretically trap both Nic and his coin in Demonreach. However, the KotC might not like that because them being locked up eliminates the possibility for them to put down the coin.

DF Spoilers / Re: Crazy theory... Mavra is on the Gray Council
« on: April 14, 2021, 03:03:48 AM »
I understand where you are coming from, and something is differently fishy with Mavra; however not sure who would have invited her to the Gray Council. I don't think that Eb would have invited a vampire to the Grey Council, and from my understanding, he is the only one who knows everyone on the Council. Like the theory!

DF Spoilers / Re: So is Marcone Black Council now?
« on: April 14, 2021, 02:57:37 AM »
It's possible that Namshiel is more of a lone wolf who just happened to be working with Nicodemus during the events of Small Favor.  He wasn't around when Nicodemus was working on the plague curse, so it's possible that Namshiel has his own agenda.  If Namshiel was set up by either Tessa or Rosa to take the fall by agreeing to launch an attack on Arctis Tor, he's probably not happy with either of them.  He probably didn't like being left behind on Demonreach either.  While it was Namshiel's host who paid the ultimate price, I bet the Fallen don't like being sent into darkness because they never know how long that condition will last.  So Thorny is probably no one's friend.

This was my understanding of Namshiel as well.

DF Spoilers / Re: The Barabbas curse
« on: April 01, 2021, 09:48:19 PM »
Personally, I do not have a huge vendetta against Jim for killing Murphy. I see it as a reminder that anyone can be killed by a moral with a gun—even super-powerful people like Eb or The Merlin. At the end of the day, humans are humans and can be killed just as easily by an angry titan or a dumb cop who went insane (or by a powerful curse that influenced said, dumb cop).

Me as well, and while one could argue in the context of everything she did die to save others.  It really isn't true, she died stupidly at the hands of an insane careless cop.  Not a hero's death at all.

Exactly! That is why I feel like there has to be something more.
