An artificial angel. One of ten created angels created by increasing the amount of one of the 10 Sephirot in the souls of infant children. This particular one has an abundance of Keter.

DFRPG / Has anyone used this power?
« on: July 10, 2015, 02:19:28 AM »
I saw this power in the Custom Powers master list. It seems perfect for my next character, but I'm worried it might be a little to strong. Has anyone used it in play?

Dream or Reality [-2]
For you the lines between Dream and Reality are blurred, so much so they are almost non-existant. You live just as much in the world of fantasy as you do on planet earth. You are able to bring your control of your Demesne into the mortal world. You are able to shape reality to your whim.
Skills Affected: Discipline
Musts: Demesne
Effects:
Sculpt Reality. You can alter reality as if you were in your personal Demesne, though not as freely as you would be able to in the Nevernever. You can roll Discipline to place scene aspects as normal, and can even use discipline to physically attack using the (now) mutable nature of the zone against your opponents. However, your attacks are all weapon: 0. Any change you make is impermanent, and reverts to its original state at the end of the scene, however, you may spend a fate point to make a change permanent (or more, at the GM's discretion).
Rapid Eye Movement. When you use this power your eyes flicker back and forth as if you were sleeping.
Illiteracy. You are unable to read, it is not because you do not know how, it is just that your brain is unable to correctly identify the symbols on the page. If you somehow loose access to this power, you will be able to read (if you were previously able to).
Improved Sculpting -1. Your attacks are now treated as Weapon: 2.
Powerful Sculpting -1. Your attacks are now treated as Weapon: 4, and any scene aspect you place is automatically made 'Sticky'.

DFRPG / Whats the final verdict on magic
« on: July 01, 2015, 08:19:12 AM »
When the RPG first came out, a lot of people were saying that magic was OP. Now that the game has been out for a while, what is the final verdict? OP or not?

Having recently read Poe's dreamlands, I thought a staff carved from a tree there would make a cool foci. It would probably help with illusion and you could probably come up with a way to make it appear and disappear at will. You know, fading in and out like a dream.

Anyone with a cool concept feel free to post.

To get us started
Possessed by a spirit of innovation
I figured it'd be a cool way to fuse the supernatural world with the some technological wonders, could be mad genius, gageteer whatever.

Man Shaped Dragon:
Was adopted by a Dragon while still a child, and so he thinks of himself as one. Now if he could only get the puny humans to believe him.

Cadd: If I remember right, and it has been a while, they were pretty weak physically, about the same level as a human with comparable conditioning. I'm sure they had an actual weakness but I can't seem to remember it.

An old bolt action rifle, one of those with lots of wood to carve runes into. As an upside, it is simple enough that it could last a couple or rounds in a fight, or even a whole fight if very little magic is involved, without losing it's ability to shoot. Makes it easy to get around the "no kill with magic rule"

99.999% pure water, frozen as part of jewelry, kept in a container, whatever. The important part is just how difficult this is to make, as water disolves a little bit of whatever container it is in. The high difficulty of purifying water should lend it significant magical weight.

Henna tattoos, gets rid of the hole "permanently destroyed if you get hit" aspect. Would be good for spells that apply only to the body, such as a shield, that shields only you. Could even be an excuse for why you wizard has inhuman speed or the like, the tattoos increasing his reaction time. Also works well as an enchanted item

Winged sandals, especially for speed.

A vial containing the last breath of a dying relative, a newborn's first tears, the ashes of a hero, grave dirt from a mob boss, that sort of thing.

A ceramic statue of a flying pig

A bell.

A rope made up of a cat's footfalls, the beard of a women, the roots of a mountain, the sinews of a bear, the breath of a fish, and a bird's spittle.

I am also not Jim, however if you are trying to stat them in your game I have read a very interesting take on them. In a fan fiction, I know they usually suck but this one was actually of book quality, the author wrote the jade court as being able to cast natural veils and feed on memories;. The most powerful JCV could eat your memories as they were formed effectively stopping you from thinking, though the only one who was shown to do this was the Jade king. Culture wise they were both secretive and honorable, using their memory eating ability to eradicate any knowledge of their activities which is why so little is known about them. At least some of them seemed to hold to an altered form of bushido.

EDIT: in case anyone was wondering the the first "novel" of the fanfiction this was taken from is called broken mirror, and it does feature the jade court.
