DF Spoilers / Re: Better Guns for Dresden and Co.

that's true.  I have argued that the best thing for Lord Raith would be a .50 cal sniper round to the head (since magic slips off of him).

And given that such weapon could be used at a supposedly safe range (current world record for longest confirmed kill is at almost 3.5 km now as far as I know). Now, the question is wether or not he would be able to sense the bullet approaching, and then move out of the way due to his super-speed.

Given that wizards tend to mess up sensitive equipment, I sadly don't see them using things like night-vision googles or drones etc. If they were using firearms, well then it would be things like AK-47's which are built to be used in the most adverse conditions or sporting-rifles or pump-action shotguns. Simple, but reliable weapons.

- It honestly feels a bit unrealistic that a vanilla sheriff can shoot down a 40+ sized horde of the Undead, especially with Wild West era weapons, those things weren't known for range and precision. Did they had even rifling back then?

Accoding to wikipedia they did. Might not be common though.

Looked at from TWG's perspective, those "innocents" are just being sent back home (to heaven).

I would hope that the Dresden file TWG were benevolent. if we look at real world, then well he is basically Cthulhu.

DFRPG / Re: Funny/Epic/Legendary moments

We ended our campaign with a gigantic battle, and Boston in smoking ruins.

First an NPC Warden, who was the girlfriend of one of the characters, killed herself with a deathcurse, where she drew upon all the power of the the Walker that had possessed her. That vaporized a huge area near Chicago with a diameter of many miles, it burned with an purple flame that didn't even leave ashes behind. And even things like steel and concrete burned. All electronics in a 30-mile radius from the blast was destroyed.

And then came the events in Boston: Turned out that a bunch of dwarves that had been living in a below-gorund comlex undeer the house of one of characters, had dug too deep, and had been to greedy. The city had first been hit by a couple of major Earthquakes and a huge sinkhole had appeared right where said house had been. And from that sinkhole cama a huge fiery being (a balrog, or one of the characters who was a svartalf said it was Surtr, the fire-giant who would destroy the world), and it was followed by an army of goblins and svartalves.

The national guard came. Lots of wardens of the White council came, along with an army of Winter trolls that we were on firendly terms with due to their king being the adoptetd son of one of the characters. We had 3 old faeire queens wo where now vassals of said troll king, Harry Dresden arrived, Vadderung came with a host of Valkyries and Einhärjars, One of the characters who was a changeling summer prince (he had just gotten promoted to duke and been turned a full shidhe came with his retinue)... My character's girlfriend who was an extremely powerful (reformed) necromancer animated the fallen soldiers so they could keep fighting. I did what I could with divinations to act as a living  comm-center and give information to my master who was there and helped the wardens.

In the end, it was our Genie who decided to take a huge fire-form and battle the balrog with her magical sword. We all pooled out recources to help out. I gave it all to find some weakness that the Genie could use, the summer prince used his magic, as did the wizard whose girlfriend had sacrificed herself erlier to destroy the walker.  So we beat the Balrog, and then the others could deal with the rest of the army.

DF Spoilers / Re: Mab, and Titania in love with another Starborn?

Well, WOJ is that Oberon was a mortal caught in a love triangle between them, and it did not end well for him.  So, I think that's reasonable.

Hmm, was he really a mortal? I can't remember the exact quote though.

Hmm, an idea, using the Fermilab circle, to focus lots and lots of energy (possibly built up from thaumaturgy) at one specific target... Basically have it be a capacitator for energy. Instant Deathstar...

Fermilab.   Just outside of Chicago, a 3.9 mile PERFECT CIRCLE OF AWESOME SCIENTIFIC MIGHT!!! (muahahah)

There has to be a use for this, no?

That would make for an interesting (summoning)circle if anyone could imagine it. However, I think the delicate electronical components in it though would not respond well to any magic that used it.

DF Books / Re: How do most wizards live day-to-day?
« on: May 26, 2017, 09:30:04 PM »
Yes, but that creates change, and old-school wizards hate change.
First of all, they couldn't stay in one place for too long, unles it's a secluded place or a multimillion people city because people would start to freak out. Second, getting a new identity is kinda hard, depending on where you live and how much are you willing to break the law. It also requires resources and contacts, mortal contacts.
Too much trouble, imo.
And that got me thinking, what date of birth is on Ebs drivers licence?

Do we even know that he has one? He is old enough that he might have learned to drive before there were licenses...

I did manage earlier to finish a short story for a writing competition at an annual gaming convention in Gothenburg during easter. Didn't win (as far as I know. Did not attend the closing cermony where they handed out the prices)

Yes, it was a bit rushed as, I started late. But it worked imo. A vigilante getting captured, and then confronted by one of her former teammates who had been turned into an evil vampiress who now tried her best to take over the city.

Edit: turned out that I did "win". Mine was the only entry in the prose-category, so I did get a voucher for 250 SEK at the Sciece Fiction Bookstore in Gothenburg. That will come  in handy.

Wrote more on the chronicle for the Dresden game. Took a week to finish last weeks session (even got writing cramps wile writing by hand during the session). Now up to almost 68 000 words.  It is worth it though, as it is fun. And the GM awarded 1 extra refresh for the chronicle from the start so my character is slighty more powerful than she should be otherwise...  ;)

Done a little bit of writing this year... Not much my goal of writing every day well it fell flat in January...

The most writing I have done this year though is on the chronicle of teh Dresden Filels RPG I play in. We restarted it after a long hiatus. As far as we know, it is one more adventure left... Will be sad when it ends.
