I just found out from Shecky that Blaze O’Rama is in the hospital with Pneumonia from CoVID-19
-
The wife and I wish her the best and hope she recovers soon. She's been an incredible admin for years, and has really helped with the site since the migration. It couldn't have happened without her.
-
Just heard about this from Serack.
Blaze was a very kind person, and from all my interactions with her I built the impression of a very generous and thoughtful person. I wish her the best and hope she recovers soon.
Stay safe everyone.
-
From Shecky: UPDATE: She is apparently on oxygen but NOT a ventilator, so there's that, at least. THANK GOODNESS.
-
I hope she gets better, soon. :(
Stay safe!
-
UPDATE (copy-pasted from her son): Just off the phone with my mom, who is currently hospitalized with the COVID mixed with some pneumonia on the side. She seems to be taking it in stride. She wanted me to make sure people know she isn't dying, just very bored in isolation.
-
Get well soon Blaze.
-
Get well soon, Blaze
-
Sending all my good vibes and, of course, praying for her. Get well soon, dearest Blaze!!!
-
Prayers. Get well Blaze!
-
*HUGS* for you all.
Thank you for all the good wishes.
I am home from the hospital, and while it will be a while before I am fully recovered, I am doing amazingly well all things considered.
Most importantly, of course, I can breathe without artificial assistance of any kind!
Again, my thanks for all the good wishes!

Oh, dear Blaze, I am so happy!! :D :D :D
Take very good care of yourself and have the warmest of virtual hugs, which are always virus free
(((((((((((((((((Blaze))))))))))))))))

Thank g-d!
Feel better Blaze.

That's good to hear 😊😊😊

Hello!
I'm glad to read that. Please take it slowly and don't overestimate yourself. I know from my colleagues who have had the virus, too, that it takes many weeks to recover. Even those who have not been in intensive care are still not quite in their old shape after 5 weeks. Another one is still not well enough to work. She will come back next week.
So please take care of yourself.
Best wishes for your health.

Good news :) I hope you'll get back in top shape in no time. Keep us updated :)

The Health Department released me from Quarantine now! (Not that there is anywhere to go!)
Well on the mend here. Tired more than I am used to being, but since I can be made of naps and no one minds....
Be well everyone! Thank you all for your continued concern and good vibes!
-
Enjoy resting, Blaze! And eat things that boost your energy. You will be normal soon enough, give it time.
Many virtual hugs!
-
You peopke are gonna give me grat hair before I'm old -_- ! *Gently hugs Blaze*
-
I have antibodies and was able to donate plasma.
Here's hoping I have magic blood, and they can make a vaccine with it, or that it really helps someone out!
-
Hi, that's great. Those plasma donations do seem to help. We do that too here. Your antibodies are fighting the virus in someone else's body. Go, antibodies!
-
Nice blaze. Go super blood!
-
Excellent Blaze, you are very generous! The treatment is working quite well (in my country, the plasma treatment has been used since decades ago for other maladies and we are using it against Covid too. Results are quite good so far)
-
My blood is CMV negative, too, which means I can donate to little ones and pregnant folks.
It isn't really a hardship to lay on a recliner for 45 minutes and then get cookies afterward!
My son has needed many transfusions over the years of his illness. I am happy to give back!
-
*hugs Blaze*

*HUGS*
Hey, I just got a letter from the blood center saying that I have the correct kind of antibodies! (There are at least two kinds, but a biologist would have to explain better to you all about the types.)
It made me feel good about being able to help all over again!
**HUGS**
-
Great news! :D
You are so kind, Blaze. Thanks for help everyone!
-
***HUGS BLAZE***
Good to know you’re on the mend 👍
-
Thank you all, again!
I am doing attempt to of my second plasma donation on Monday! Keep a good thought for my successful partial exsanguination!
-
All the best!
-
This time they needed convalescent whole blood. So I donated that.
All the blood banks are looking for donors, folks! Especially AB and AB- donors.
It is an easy way to be a hero and save a life!
Plus, I got cookies, thin mints! (Not for me, I gave them to my BFF for her family)
-
What? Why would they need AB? That is the one group that can accept every group donation (of course, AB- will still need RH- blood, but not necessarily AB. And it is true that it is the rarer group but normally that is not a problem).
I am AB, they told me I cannot donate due to hepatitis, decades ago, but I never felt they needed my blood too much, precisely because I am AB+, the most "selfish" group of all. :)
-
Maybe for plasma donation. That would make more sense.
-
True. As it is the rarer group they would be less recovered people with AB group.
-
Yes and plasma of AB donators can be given to any other blood type. Because there are no antibodies against A or B in it.
But a patient with the blood type AB can only receive plasma from another AB person, because all the other blood types have antibodies against either A or B or both in their plasma.
***Being a smartass for those who don't know.*** ;D
-
As long as I continue to have antibodies, I will be giving blood as often as I am allowed!
Dina, yeah, they have lists of when you can't give blood because of ailments and medications.
I am in good enough shape for this!
People gave blood when my son was soo soo soo sick, and it saved his life. It is the least I can do in return!
