"It's not called leprosy anymore. It's called Hansen's Disease." - Paul Blackthorne(!) on Monk :)

Maybe he heard you NorCal people are a bit upity? He is after all a Midwest boy.
-
Hey, don't complain. You guys get Eddie Izzard, who seems to think that the US only exists as California and New York (except for skiing in Colorado).
-
(as long as we're on the subject of avoidance...) So Jim, where's the love? When are you planning to make your stop in Alaska? We like to read up here too, you know!

Hey! I'm in the San Francisco Bay area, and I grew up in Missouri. There are a lot of us Midwesterners out here!
-
I was going to say, try living in the heartland. No one ever comes here.

Agreed...Heartland or as it is more commonly referred to, the Middle of Nowhere.
-
thats nothing I live in the city where the book is based and I still get no love. Don't be scared of Chicagoans, Jim we're not going to bite you.
-
After Jim signs or personalizes the books some of you have ordered from The Signed Page (http://www.signedpage.com), I plan on going to his event here in Seattle, recording it with my webcam, and placing it on the website for you guys to watch and listen to. :) Although that is a very small consolation to actually being in Jim's presence, at least it is something, right? :)

Hurrah! I was lucky enough to meet Jim at New York Comic Con, but he only had about 10-15 minutes to actually talk to the SciFi Friday audience. I look forward to hearing him when he has a little more time to speak!

Yea, don't let the White Sox fans fool you, chicago is a great place to come.
-
Don't let the big dead dinosaur scare you either. I've visited Chicago, and it is a great city.
-
I haven't been to Chicago since before I moved out of Wisconsin. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if they still have the The Light and the Darkness lions at the Field Museum? I didn't find out about them until I'd already moved, so if I saw them, I didn't know it at the time.

FYI

Lions of Tsavo is a permanent exhibit at the Fields Museum.
And how about Norman, OK. Jim started out here and do we see him dropping by? nope. ;D

Thanks! ;D If I ever make it back to Chicago, I know what's on my To Do list.

What, do we have leprosy or something?
Vastly OT, but the book I'm currently reading suggests that what used to be called "leprosy" was actually syphilis. Puts a whole new slant on the thread here.
-
What book is that? That makes no sense at all. The symptoms are totally different. Syphilis eventually drives you insane. Leprosy kills off the nerves and eventually causes necrosis as little injuries add up and don't heal correctly, and causes parts of you to rot and have to be removed. Not sure I see the connection there.
-
Yeah, that's what I thought. ::) It was Disease and History. I think maybe they meant that sometimes one was mistaken for the other?
It was just odd that I saw this thread immediately after I'd read that, so I had to share.
-
Yes, I vote for a Chicago appearance.
After all, it's Harry's hometown. ;D
(By the way, the new book is awesome!)

I figured this would be the most appropriate thread to put this on. I found this site where you can request artists to visit your city and put requested that Jim visit Nashua, NH. It's not where I live, but it's close enough that I can get there easily. Plus, it's pretty centrally located in New England.
So if you live in the area, click on the link below to add your voice to the request or request another city:

Come to Chicago, Jim! Visit Wrigley Field. Note that it does not have acres and acres of parking! I'm afraid that if you don't come, Harry will move away and we'll be left to battle the creatures of the NeverNever on our own. How scarey is that?
-
LOOK, even if i do have leprosy from rubbing shoulders with the rest of marin, that's no excuse for the flagrant skipping out on San Francisco. or as we call it, "the city." cuz we're weird like that. maybe it's the leprosy.

What about Canada - its not that cold up here .... most of the time

Seconded. It would be great to get a chance to meet Jim. Nice and hot up here now.
