Wait . . . we're allowed to post?

Seriously, I keep thinking I should be more involved . . . at least so I can get past the silly limit that keeps me from having an avatar.

But it somehow seems too . . . social.  People kidding, chatting each other up, interacting as if friends . . . it took me a long time to wean my real life friends from all that social stuff; don't know if I want to start it here.  It seems a big bother, what with having to care, and actually read, what others are saying.

No, I guess I'll hover in the less-than 0.01 posts per day for a tad longer.

If you are running Windows, you can also Click on "Start", choose "all programs", "accessories", "accessibility", "magnifier".

That will split the screen, with the upper part showing a magnified version of where ever your pointer is on.  You can change the size of the split, and the level of magnification (2x is the default).

The Cntl+ is sometime easier to use, but it depends on what you are looking at . . . it magnifies the screen, but makes it harder to navigate.  The other way lets you see the whole screen, and the magnified portion above it.

Hope that helps.

aww i remeber being a lurker
it was not that long ago honest
i had a similar vew point to you back then
manly i was shy
well that plane went out the window wonce some silly person gave me instructions to go to the bar and fined weird and ask them questions about what they do there
now look i am on the first page and thretering some long time mebers posisions  ;D

I'm not much on the shy department . . . I'm more concerned about adding yet another activity to my full plate.  Between my blog, work, wanting to write, my photography hobby, and wanting to eat, there is little time left for recurring activities.

That said, I had a ball on a Firefly board I belong to (The Antisocial Bastards), and made friends who still keep in touch.  That board was hurt by FaceBook becoming popular.

We'll see how this goes, and thanks for the encouragement.

Sicilian.

Should have recognized it . . . Have good friends from Nicosia (I think that's the spelling if I remember correctly).  Never saw it written, and never learned it.  I grew up in Friuli, but never learned Friulan either.

Thanks.

You have to have 100 posts before you can upload your own avatar.  Welcome to the forum!

Having just finished Ghost Story, you know what would be neat . . . if the visibility on a personal avatar would be the number of posts as a percentage (i.e. I've got 7 posts as of this writing, so it would be 7% visible).

At the 100th post, the whole avatar would be visible.

Yeah, I don''t know how to make that work; just thinking out loud.

(ETD: 5 posts; apparently I can't count)

You can find out other important tidbits about this forum here:  http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23096.msg988906.html#msg988906

Welcome to the boards!  *HUGS*

Thanks.  Good info.  . . . and . . . uh . . . not big on hugs, but thanks.

By the way . . .  is your signature meant to be Italian?  Or is it some other language or dialect?  The coda is in Italian proper, but the rest is either a dialect or a different language.  Just wondering.

welcom to the fourm
oh 100 is easy wonce they catch you in there net  :)
just stay away from the punch okay

Yeah, I could do that.  The question is whether I should.  New to Dresden (read all 13 books in the past two months), and I obviously liked them, but will likely just lurk for a while.

Although the fanfic part looks interesting (I dabble a bit in writing for fun).

We'll see

Ah . . . tanstaafl.

One hundred, eh?  Why, I'd almost have to be social.

Thanks.

Just wondering . . . I see the option for no avatar, or the option to choose from existing.  I don't see the option to either load my own or use Gravatar.

Not a big deal, but wondering if I'm missing something obvious.
