I GM over IRC, which means the pace of the game is a little slower than what happens in a normal, face-to-face game.

In our last session, the group faced off against a monstrous demon that was burning contracts with some kind of devilish power, as well as attacking a Church, the local Fae power and the local Black Court Vampire - saving the Black Court Vampire and his White Court brethren from almost certain death. Better the devil you do know, eh?

Then, after that, my lone remaining Pure Mortal agreed to allow the vampire to possess her so that he could show her to the last member of a pact established 500 years ago that is somehow related to this spate of attacks. He takes them to the church and says that the nameless, soulless third party is inside, when suddenly the party hears that their impenetrable fortress of holy solitude has been broken into and the mortal they stashed there for her protection is under attack.

Keepin' them hoppin'.

PS: I'm actually quite surprised by the unanimous verdict in the contributor category. I guess I'm more popular than I thought.
I didn't say I liked you. :P

As well as Race to Adventure!, the Spirit of the Century novel, ElectriCity and ... I swear there's something else that they're getting behind that I can't remember. So that's four things I'm less interested in (and, honestly, I'm mainly interested in the DRYH stuff for certain authors, never having gone in for DRYH itself).

I don't know if I would call it bad news - it's natural news, as Fred says. And you know it's going to shoot up with the release of the Paranet Papers, which I think is slated for this year or next year. And experience at least a slight bump with the release of Cold Days.

I'm personally all about some of the other projects that Evil Hat has in the works - the DRYH short story collection, DRYH hack book, Zeppelin Armada, Fate Core ... wait, wow, I only listed the things I was interested in and I can think of the same number or more things that I'm only nominally interested in.

When did the Ob'enn show up again? Urseminites have existed since the previous version of Bulldogs! which was d20 based, IIRC. I've found art of them dating back to 2003.

If you really want to have "Our World" but you don't really need it, buy it as a pdf. It's much cheaper than the books and as a gm-book as much as useful...
I second this recommendation. Since Our World is mainly useful as a sourcebook for figuring out just how to build a something or other, it's almost MORE useful as a PDF than as a real book for one major reason.

Searching.

The PDF is so much handier for just searching through and seeing, "Hey, how are the Knights of the Cross statted up? I think I'll make my Holy Swordsman of Islam more or less the same." Or setting up Fix as one of your antagonists and seeing exactly what kind of power he throws out in a throw down.

Definitely buy Your Story first though. You can't really understand Our World without Your Story.

DFRPG / Re: Situational Modifiers and Fate Points

If you have FATE points, you write the story.
If you don't have FATE points, the story writes you.
This. This is what the whole concept of refresh is all about and why it's a feature of the Dresden Files RPG.

It's also probably why I'd rarely take it to any other kind of Fate hack.

Yeah, if you REALLY have to have some more umph to it, you might want to consider attaching a bunch of stunts to it and treating it like an Item of Power, basically. I don't think you'd have to lose your Pure Mortal bonus, but you could probably attach 3 or so stunts to it and get a +2 rebate or some such jazz like that. It would still be more or less in line ...

Seriously though. Aspect. Have lots of Fate Points. Win.

Pah, we didn't even lose to the player guide. We lost to the added options to the player guide. It's not even a full game.

Yeah, what RedThorn said, although you would probably want to add an aspect referring to it if it's that important to your character concept. Then, any time that part of its systems would be applicable - boom! Spend a Fate Point and it's part of the narrative!

This is one of the core components of the system, really. You don't need to think in a simulationist view about anything. Your guiding viewpoint when figuring out how to do something is more "how will this affect the narrative" or "what effect will this have on the narrative" and then you go from there.

So, throw in real-world stats where applicable and an aspect on your character sheet and you should be good. Armor:2 if inside - and everything else seems to fall under the aspect.

The Ennies are basically the Gamer's Choice awards. For the last couple of weeks, people have been able to vote. More people voted for Pathfinder APG than voted for DFRPG on the Product of the Year category. A majority of voting gamers thought it was better.

14
Wow, I'm surprised nobody posted the rest yet.

Silver: Best Production Value
Gold: Best Writing
Gold: Best Rules
Gold: Best New Game
Gold: Best Game
Silver: Product of the Year

This was every category that the game was nominated in. More or less, they swept the Ennies.
