Pffft, nah.  My home server could handle a couple hundred requests per minute without slowing it down doing other things but my connection isn't absolutely reliable.  We probably won't need third party hosting for it unless an ice storm hits me or something else takes my connection out.  If that happens, I'll either ask the folks at Evil Hat if they want to host it or just buy myself a cheapo bit of hosting and use it for other stuff besides.

It stands to reason that it wouldn't be capable of really potent mental effects.

I would have said complicated rather than potent.

@The Mighty Buzzard: Is the thing you're stuck on something I can help with?

Eh, depends.  I'm debating on whether I should just slap down a whole stinking lot of spaces for powers/stunts or start with one of each and have a new one pop up beneath as you start entering data in the one above.  The latter makes for a much smaller page and easier parsing but it means I have to monkey with AJAX, which I really despise working with.

Since she's also a goddess of magic, I'd stat him out as sponsored covering the full range of evo/thaum as well as Divination at Evocation speed.  Possibly casting skills of his own too.  Maybe Physical Immunity or Toughness vs Mortal Magic.  A clockwork owl like IoP Perseus had.  Any faith based power would be easy to justify.

Really, this character just screams Custom Powers Time though.  You can get away with a lot being godlet.  Healing powers wouldn't be out of the question with mommy being the goddess of medicine.  A resources based power since she was the goddess of commerce.  Eating someone's spell and taking the shifts as mental healing once per scene.

Might add on some toughness/speed/strength/recovery powers just on general spawn of a goddess principles if you run out of anything else that sounds good.

And remember, she's the goddess of crafts, so plenty of nifty gadgets around the old lair could be fun too.

Without Alertness or Investigation, how did the character track the vampires to their lair or find out about the vampires' presence in the first place?

Blind chance/GM fiat I expect.  That's usually how my players find plot critical bits out when they don't notice that I've been beating them over the head for half a dozen sessions with clues.  Thankfully that's a pretty rare occurrence anymore.  As is our old tendency to do things like decide to take a random, thousand mile road trip fifteen minutes into the session.  I think we had more fun foiling GM plots than we did NPC ones back in the bad old days.

Five pound weight rigged to fall into the tub of nitroglycerin in the bottom of the coffin when the lid is opened more than ten degrees.  Ruin their entire day.

Yeah, absent Domination, the smell might be an issue too.  I don't remember any couple days dead BCV examples to say one way or the other though.

Yeah, not disagreeing on it being an interpretation.  Even a fairly RAW unsupported one.  Absent a WoI we're pretty much stuck House Rule-ing it one way or the other, so I'm going to lean towards canon. YMMV.

1. Kudos for that too.

P.S. About 25% done with the NPC Formatilator 9000.  Stuck on a design decision and awaiting inspiration.

Likely as long as it wanted.  Domination + surprised (defend at +0 because they're not clued in enough to know to defend themselves) = the cops see what it tells them they see.

Don't know if there is a quote.  Hyperawareness tends to make me think Spirit can do mental though.  It could also be a physical alteration if it were Earth but Spirit... pretty much has to be mental.  And if you can do a mental evocation on yourself, you can do one on others.  Plus, most of the mental mojo flung around in canon was done evocation style.  That's my reasoning anyway.

I'm ok with them putting the mental whammy on baddies too.  I mean if most vamps, including the playable varieties, can do it, why limit the full on casters?

On your points:

1. True, but most all of yours do.
2. I'm fine with that meaning they're closer to human thinking. It's not necessarily good or bad, just arbitrary.
3. Incite emotion never had the downside of working poorly on non-mortals. No need to extend the mental armor to work against it.
4. See 2.  Granted, it lends a new level of complexity to NPC stats but that doesn't necessarily break the NPCs. It just means you have to take that into account when picking them.

I don't have any problem with mental attacks at all.  Every vamp has some form of one and anyone who can use Spirit evocations can whip them out at a moment's notice, barring aspects to the contrary.  Wardens getting rather choppy over this and having to take Lawbreaker is plenty of deterrent IMO.  If they want to pick up the red lightsaber of Lawbreaker and deal with any consequences arising, more power to them.  It's no darker than the WCV in my group torturing captured baddies for information last week.

I do dig the "X negagive refresh =  X mental armor" though.  Gives me a mechanic for saying non-mortal creatures are difficult to bother mentally rather than just being arbitrary about it.  Think I'll skip bothering with taking Conviction/Discipline into account;  no need for weak fae to be any less alien mentally than the stronger ones.

No idea. Ass pullage is pretty much the only way to go unless you want to sit down and stat possibilities until your brain turns to mush.

With very few exceptions, I'd say damaging the social track is impossible with evocation.  Spirit specifically allows for mental attacks but social dynamics are far too complex for evocation to have any part in them.

Now for an exception.  I'm pretty sure you could pull off a whoopee cushion effect with evocation and that could be used as a low-brow social attack.  You could also use a focused wind gust to scatter someone's notes during a speech which could be adjudicated as a social attack.  In either case though, they'd really work better as maneuvers; the caster's Discipline roll would have little to nothing to do with how much disadvantage the recipient took off of the spell.

Such a webpage would indeed be awesome.

I'll tell you when I run into formatting issues.

Ok, I'll work on that then.  Have been down a bit due to a video card fan starting to go out on me.  Didn't want to wait until it entirely went out to deal with it because that would have meant buying a new card.  With that in mind, I set out to deal with the problem.

The first thing I tried was finding the same fan for sale.  It turns out quite a lot of other people were doing the same thing.  Apparently this model of vid card bought some really craptastic fans to put on an awesome heatpipe.  Mine lasted almost a year;  this turns out to be average for my particular card.  Unfortunately, replacement fans can only be found on one Polish website.  Time for plan B.

Plan B was find a different model fan that would fit the mounting holes.  This turned out to be problematical since it's very difficult to describe a screw mounting pattern to google.  Plan C.

Plan C was to find a fan that me, my trusty Dremel, and Sculpy could make work.  It turns out, however, that I suck quite badly at making things with Sculpy.  Much cussing and plan D.

Plan D wasn't really a plan.  It was more getting annoyed and saying screw it, I'm gonna just zip tie an 80mm case fan to it.  Four zip ties and soldering two wires to the old fan plug and it's chugging along at about 90% of the cooling efficiency it had brand new.

The moral of this story is: I like stories.  I'll get on making up that webpage directly.  I've got a server at my house that can host it well enough for our needs but I'll see about finding something more reliable after I get it working.
