DFRPG / Re: OK, about shifts
« on: April 09, 2010, 03:43:53 AM »
So, if my PC does action A, I can move shifts into effect B?
Examples with 2 shifts here:
1. PC jumps off house roof to attack two thugs below. Thug 1 gets it in the back, down but conscious, thug 2 drops gun in surprise
2. PC unleashes force attack on thug 1. Thug 1 flies into bookcase, bookcase falls on thug.
3. PC goes all fuego on a just made RC vamp. Fire goes through rampire, injures the one behind him.

Is this right, or am I still not getting it a complete doofus?

Examples help  ;D

The point at which you start your own game, you're taking ownership of the Dresdenverse.  If Jim offers up new material afterwards, well, that's *his* Dresdenverse. :)

So, by this can one infer that material (such as the Archive and its knowledge, or lack thereof, of electronic only information) is canon up to the divergence of the RPG-verse and main-verse? Well, at least as far as Harry knows.... At least for purposes of winning arguments in the spoiler board :D

And, for a pen-n-paper n00b, I find this absolutely amazing. I already have a Crown Royal Bag full of glass bead thingies from the Walmart craft section for fate points (ok and for epically long games of The Dread Pirate, a rote board game I love)

Ordered it last night. I was order 667 = creepy. The neighbor of the beast.

Overall, I am very impressed. I will have to go back and re-read several sections...later though, Changes is out!

DFRPG / Re: Miniatures; where could I find someone who makes customs?
« on: March 07, 2010, 11:26:32 PM »
Well, a quick google search showed:
http://www.livingdice.com/631/custom-rpg-miniatures-for-4000/

Also , contact your local IPMS ( http://www.ipmsusa.org/ ) chapter. They might have a member that will do custom pieces. Most chapters do tend heavily towards aircraft and armor, but there are some that specialize in sci-fi, figures, cars, and other subjects.

OR, you can make it yourself!
Super Sculpey ( http://ww.sculpey.com/products/clays/super-sculpey-firm ) is an excellent product for a beginner, as you have to bake it for it fully cure.
Also, ProCreate putty (review here: http://www.stormthecastle.com/miniatures/products-clays/procreate-putty.htm website here http://www.kraftmark.biz/kraft.procreate.html ) is very good for detail, but as it is an epoxy putty, you only have 2 hours or so work time for each batch before the catalyst cures the resin. There are many good figure webforums out there and some great boards in other genre's forums. I am partial to http://www.starshipmodeler.net/talk/index.php but that's because I am a spaceship geek at heart.

Ok, since it is now six months, two weeks, and two days since the release of Princeps Fury, I hearby move that the Alera ticker reflect the release date for Forst Lords Fury.

Do I have a second?

Would it be cheating to ask him to put a detailed map in the next book?

In the Q&A at the Dayton signing for Turn Coat, Jim said the FLF will have a map. Also of note is that he said the work done here in this thread is outstanding and he (or the artist) is using it as a reference

;D so that leaves many non-chrono, necro, nuro-mancer opertunities to take without getting the refresh penalities of a full wizard, AND w/o having to unduly worry about the seven laws!

Thank You all for taking time to answer, especially you, Fred.

Dang, my geekiness is getting so repressed that I clam up in front of other geeks. I need a vacation...

Is a Focused Practitioner White Council material? Are they considered for membership in the council, or are they just told the Seven Laws by the wardens and under the council's protection through the Accords?
