Molly Sending a Hidden Message?

g33k:
I'm just going to leave this here...
Y'know...

In lieu of a thousand words.

(I think "coincidence" might be a bit much to claim; but...)

vincentric:
Or it could be that Jim is just a fan and also excellent dramatic choice.

If I was making a movie of BG, "Welcome to the Jungle" would be a near perfect soundtrack for this scene.

I think that's very possible... but far from sure:  There's a lot going on in the song... and in the White Court.

So being able to draw some parallels is hardly surprising!

"Being rebellious" is hardly an unexplored stance for Molly Carpenter; and that kind of "right under her nose" loophole-threading is very fae.

I think the strongest argument for this being specifically a Molly-to-Harry message, though:  it's a Dresden-growing-up song, a song from Harry's youth, Harry's generation.  Molly, as noted, is more of a modern "rave" kinda gal (& I'm pretty sure Charity & Michael weren't blasting Guns N' Roses in the childhood home; not that she couldn't have heard the band / that song as she rebelled, but I think (if it were her own general-purpose "battle anthem") it would have been more from her own generation... not Harry's generation).  This IMO makes "message to Harry" very likely indeed.

Avernite:
But what is the message?

I mean, putting in such a subtle message when all it warns is 'remember not to be lusting for Winter's power it might change you'... well, we had a whole book or two about that.

seanham:
I'd like to think it is a hidden message but honestly, I don't see it. Primarily because Harry is too dumb to understand it. Harry is a smart guy but is clueless until he needs to be. I think the easier answer to this song choice would be that Chicago is known as the Concrete Jungle, and Winter are predators. So the song choice says welcome to this jungle where we are the hunters and you are our prey. This is our territory and you are out of your depth.
