Regenbogen:
Hey everybody!
Long time no post.
It is hot. Hot. Hot.
I feel like my blood is boiling. The promised bad weather did not reach my home. There was one day it cooled down a bit. There was some clouds and wind and a few rain drops. But not enough.
Ok, I shouldn't complain. There were floodings in other parts of the country. I was glad the really bad weather didn't reach us. The river was quite full of water. It almost got over the shore. But there's the reinforced dam also. So the village is mostly safe. Except from ground water coming up.

Soon it will be Tuesday again. I'm excited what will be on JB's website then.

Yesterday a few kids were here to celebrate my little one's birthday (the real birthday was in April, but we promised her, there will be a party as soon as we are allowed to. As she has not forgotten, I had to do the party now. But I'm glad it's over.). Today I refilled the rubber pool and she is in there with her playmobil mermaids. I will join her soon.
We are doing a lazy Sunday.

And I'm debating with myself what I should read now. I have a few books to try. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, What's its title by Patrick Rothfuss, and a funny one starring a Bavarian police man. All of them good ones. Maybe I'll start with the police story, because it is extremely different in it's stile from the DF.

Dina:
I am so glad your child got to enjoy her bithday. And the pool! Also, I love playmobil with all my heart. I even have 2 of them in the living room now. One is a princess, in a pretty dress, with a lovely purple unicorn. The other one, is an Argentinian football player. But I have a couple more on the sleeping room and even more stored.

Here is unseasonably hot too (we have 18°C) but is cloudy.

About what to read: Many people here love P. Rothfuss work. I had not read him. I did read Neverwhere and liked it a lot. As it takes place in London, when I was there a couple of years ago I couln't stop enjoying the underground names that are menioned in the book. But I agree, perhaps it is good to read something very different while waiting for more Dreden. Oh, Priscellie has confirmed that we will have sample chapters for BG (not information of how many or when)

Regenbogen:
I love playmobil too. I have a vampire couple on my bedroom cupboard. The female has bat wings. Pretty cool.
It is amazing what funny and detailed things there are today. I love to look for that in the stores. You can get that almost everywhere now. Mostly it is very expensive, but there are small figures in a surprise bag to put together yourself, that are sold for 2€. I buy them as little presents for kids.

And I've heard about Rothfuss, too. I wonder, why I have never read some of his books. They are even in the library.
It's the first of the king killer books. A colleague lent me the book.
That was funny. It was during the nightshift week, when Peace Talks came out. I told him that I was so excited about the book. So he asked what it was. Turned out he likes similar books. So I recommended J. Butcher and he recommended P. Rothfuss.
And he saw my reaction after I went to the fire stairs after midnight to get access to the internet to see, if the book was already there. And it was!!!
I may have expressed my joy in a loud way.  ;)

Maybe I'll just force myself to finish the police book. I have started before Peace Talks, but put it away. It is no high literature. Mostly I don't really like the protagonist's attitude. He is a cynical asshole, but sometimes it is really funny. But I'm not sure I can endure several books or even the one I read now. I fear this is the second time I really prefer the movies to the books. The first one being "The Name Of The Rose" by Umberto Eco. I really tried to read that, I managed about 80 pages I think, but it was sooooo boring for me, sorry, Umberto.  ;)

Dina:
I think I did not read the P. Rothfuss books because I've felt they were a rip-off of Dresden. I don't say that is right, in fact, I know many people here who love it. But that is how I roll  :)

And I loved The name of the Rose! I was in my secondary school and I've got hepatitis, so I stayed at home and read it. And it was great. I also read "Foucault's pendulum" but I was disappointed because, after loving the novel all the time I was reading it, felt that the ending was lacking.
The Name of the Rose, the movie, was very good, I love Sean Connery so much. Also, we Argentinians read the blind librarian as a reference to our Jorge Luis Borges, our greatest writer, who was blind and  (for a time) the director of the National Library.

Regenbogen:
Hello!!!
I'm back.  ;) We were busy with the harvest. The plums are done. We donated about half of them to plumless people ;D. Now it's apple time.

I still don't read any particular book. But have started three different ones, but can't get the right feeling to continue any of them.

But we managed to watch the fifth season of Lucifer. At least the first 8 episodes. It still is not clear when the rest will be available. It was fun to watch. Took us one evening and one night.
