Attaching a Catch to non-toughness Powers?

(1/1)

ReaderAt2046:

So when you take a Toughness power, you can and must attach a Catch that negates those powers under certain circumstances, and you receive a rebate for that Catch. But what about extending that same concept to other powers? Say, for example, you have a changeling who can create Glamours, but because of the Fey origins of her power, anyone touching iron can see through her illusions? Or a demon whose Domination power has no effect on those with True Faith? Is there any reason why this sort of thing wouldn't be possible? It seems like a way to make for some very interesting story moments.

Quantus:
Oh, sure I dont see why not.  The easiest example I can think of is how (in the stories) True Love will also make you immune to a White Court Vamps emotional pushing.  There is precedent for Iron being added to a spell to be more effective at countering Fae magic, as well as aiding in containment circles.

In terms of cost&value it really all comes down to how often your GM will be able to make it relevant, so there is definitely discussion to be had.

Personally I'd just handle all of that through aspects, compels, and straight up the GM going, "That doesn't work because it wouldn't work."
