Taran:
After re-reading what you need, I don't have anything.
I have 2 wizards but neither are wardens. I have another one for a game I was running but it's not my work, so I don't think I can hand it over.
The one I was going to offer was a retired Mafiosi. A diviner who was the power behind the local mob. I suppose you could tweak him to be a warden. There's no reason why you can't be both. He'd be about Carlos' Power. Probably stronger. Definitely hardened but more defensively capable.

If you're willing to share the character info, I may or may not be able to use him. I'm going back and forth on one wizard. If I use the one the way I'm thinking, then your diviner could fufill a specific function in the group.
Taran:
I left the cities and dates open for whatever works best with you. His background is fairly detailed. Hopefully, I've captured enough of his personality. If you want more details on his magic:
He primarily does thaumaturgy but any enchanted items help him react to danger or protect him (divination by seeing the future or knowing the best way to dodge or escape). He uses potions a lot, often to help him with social situations as his personality makes him a difficult person to deal with. So, he uses magic to soften his demeanor or help read people's social cues. (once again, these enhance his perception or let him see people's social reactions before they actually occur.)
He'll lend out potions to allies if he trusts them enough.
He's not as good at evocation but is more specialized at spirit magic: using veils and protections to help his allies. He is more defensively oriented, in general, preferring to survive a conflict, retreat, then use his divination to plan and obliterate his enemies at a later date.
He's still very adept at evocation attacks(probably as good as Carlos) but his specialty in Divination and his natural tendency for defense and fear of breaking Magical Laws makes him less likely to go that route. (assuming he hasn't planned to do so in advance, of course).

Basilio looks like he is in his early to mid-forties with dark hair highlighted with slight streaks of grey. He comes from Sicily and still speaks with an Italian accent. He's always well dressed in 1930's/40's styled tailored suits and always wears sunglasses and a fedora. In the winter he sports a wool long-coat. He also has a penchant for expensive rings and necklaces and walks with a stylish cane. He lives in among the rich and elite in a modestly sized mansion which has a stone fence and a sizable back-yard. His house is meticulously kept by a live-in butler and has not been updated since the 40's. In fact, it has been "down-graded". There is minimal electricity and it is heated by wood fire.

Background:
(click to show/hide)Basilio Vaccaro was born in 1905 in Sicily. In his teen years, he started manifesting his power, seeming to have an uncanny ability to predict people's actions and events. His father, a powerful and clued-in Mafia Don contacted the White Council. From there, Basilio learned to control and refine his powers under the guidance of White Council Wizard in England even throughout WW1. He was particular adept at Divination, even from a young age.
Many years later, in 1930, he rejoined his family where he was groomed to take over the "family business". Things became difficult as WWII came on and he enlisted against the Germans and Mussonlini. He fought in Italy as a partisan against Mussolini and was there when the Dictator was captured, having used his power to predict the Mussolini's escape to the North from Italy. During the war, Bassilio also became an excellent rifleman and an asset as an adviser and strategist for his Commanding Officers which had him move up the ranks.
After the war, he took over his fathers position as head of the family until 1950. He moved to North America >>INSERT CITY<< when he joined his Calabrian cousins, the Ferrara family to help them shore up their power base. Using divination, Wards and other magics at his disposal, he helped the Ferrara family build their power base from behind the scenes. By the time the Vaccaro's arrived in the City, all the pieces were set for their take-over.
In 1970, a war raged between the Sicilian Vaccaro's and the Calabrian Ferrara family. Basilio switched sides and along with other defectors, the tide turned and the Vaccaro's gained control of the city.
Since that time, Basilio has worked behind the scenes to keep the family safe and the business running smoothly. Many attempts on his life were made, but most only succeeded in getting the assassins killed. Thanks to Basilo's magic, the Vaccaro's Don gained a reputation of being untouchable because authorities could never make charges stick.
Over the years, Basilio, has changed his name for the sake of the police and those not in his inner circle. For those, in the know, or even those criminals not clued in to his Wizard Heritage, they know that the Grandfather of the Vaccaro family is more than just a title; that it represents a power that should not be underestimated. He is the Merlin of the Mob.
During this time, Bassilio, who liked to keep his distance from the White Council and keep their noses out of his family business was careful never to walk close to lawbreaking. His divinations never involved time-travel and he never used magic for assassinating competitors, preferring to use mortal hit men who were very, very well informed.
Year 20-- (prior to the war on the Reds)
A mysterious gang had set up shop in the city selling a very specialized drug. The gang, working with the Vaccaro's rivals, the Ferrara's began to eliminate Vaccaro's stranglehold on the drug trade. Using his magic, Bassilio learned that the gang was, in fact, Red Court Vampires attempting to find a footing in the city.
Ignoring the Accords, Bassilio used his magic to learn everything about them, used his influence to hire a Supernatural Hit-Squad and joined the team to eliminate the Vampires. It was a complete slaughter and the Reds were eliminated from the city. The Red Court cried foul but Bassilio argued that his motives were totally mundane and independent of the White Council - that he was protecting the interests of his family. He'd also set up enough plausible deniability that they couldn't specifically pin his actions on the White Council. He got off with a wrist-slap.
While he couldn't be specifically be protected by the White Council, the Reds had taken the message that Bassilio's city was territory not worth taking.
Recently:
In 20--, Bassilio left with some friends on a hunting trip. When he returned, he family, his wife and 2 children were murdered. It looked like a retaliatory shooting. This unhinged Bassilio. He felt he was responsible for their deaths and, instead of divining the murderers and hunting them down, he turned his back on crime - which he felt was the reason they had died. As a result, the Vaccaro family has suffered a series of unfortunate set-backs that has had prominent figures in the family assassinated or arrested.
This coincided with the war on the Reds. With Bassilio's drawn away from his mortal ties to the mob, the White Council used the opportunity to recruit Bassilio as a Warden. His hardened life and brutal pragmatism, along with his former experience fighting the Reds made him an ideal weapon in their war.
Taran:
double-post:
Basillio could be your BAD ASS, but probably not in the traditional 'walk in the room and Rambo murder' the enemies. More for his cut-throat attitude and his background. If he's well prepared, an enemy should be afraid.
No problem if you kill him off. But it should probably be difficult. Catching him unprepared would probably be his down-fall but he's prepared contingencies for that. He's likely to be aware of ambushes and likely to retreat instead of fighting if caught unawares.
BTW: where do you post your writing?

Over at Fanfic.net. I've got four up so far, and this will be the fifth story.
I've got another role for Basillo. It's actually a ninth wizard position I hadn't realized I needed until now.
