True, but that is more the genre difference I think; the Space-western vs the victorian steampunk. Mal also does not know down to the second how long it takes a cup of tea to cool to proper drinking temperature. Strip away those style trappings and I think they are pretty darn close

I got a big "Auri" vibe from Folly.
She's a thin waif of a girl who is more knowledgeable/powerful than outside appearances indicate.
Also a strange way of talking and seemingly crippling social/communication issues.
