Online Battle Order Sheet
« on: December 24, 2012, 05:54:30 PM »
So, this is something I came up with to help my groups (all of whom meet online through mIRC) keep track of things during conflict scenes. And with the beauty of google docs, they can see me updating it in real time, and can check it quickly to see which enemies are wounded, who's got what aspects, and what order they're supposed to go in.

Anyway, me and my groups have gotten good use out of it, so I figured I'd share it--or at least the basic format of it--with the rest of you. Feel free to copy and use with your own groups.

Hmm. Could be useful for PbP, I think. Much obliged.

Yeah, looks like a good idea. Think I'll give it a try sometime.

So, in a fit of boredom induced inspiration, I've come up with something else that could help those of you who play by post or online. This should help in visualizing positions and zones while playing.

If anyone has ideas or suggestions for how it might be improved, let me know.

Yes, I'll be making use of it as well.  Thanks.

I'm glad you guys like it. Though after showing it to my players, we're thinking the colors might not be sufficient for marking zone borders, since google spreadsheets don't let you make borders thicker. My alternate ideas are either to make the border cells consist of the number (so, for example, the door at the top of that sample would have "555555" above it), or simply putting the number in the same cell as the label (so the bottom might read: Street - 2).

Thoughts?

I'd go with putting the number in the same cell as the label. Having numbers surrounding the border can get messy very quickly and is a bit more difficult to work with when you have borders on interior stage changes (like if there was a border between the main entrance and the dance floor in your example). Better to have the colour and the label reference the border strength.
