Your strangest lines out of context :D
LizW65:
Just the other night I penned the following:
"He shouldered the leg, hiked up his skirt, and clumped up the stairs" and it occurred to me that taken out of context of the story it actually sounds kind of odd. Does anyone else have a line they've written which sounds weird (or makes no sense at all) outside the story it appears in?

I used to know a number of vegetarians from whom "One man's meat is another man's leg" was a fairly common slogan defending their position, and it pleased me mightily to write a character who quoted that in a context of "if you absolutely have to kill someone, don't waste the protein."
(That was the same project where I got to follow "God is dead" with "Long live God." It's a shame that's so pre-9/11 as to be essentially unsellable now; there are a couple of months' polishing work left on it that I've never prioritised getting round to.)

That sounds a bit like, "God is dead; there's a position open," which appears in the recent novelization of Shada.

Most of my coolest lines are old movies lines that I throw in there so very in context to the situation that those who don't notice it just roll right on and anyone who does catches it are left snorting.
I can't think of anything :(

That's how pop-culture references should work, IMESHO; there are few things more annoying than something clearly marked as an obvious reference that you as reader don't get.
