Every item has a purpose
Where did you get that idea?
Simply possessing the Item of Power is notenough to use the abilities. Rules must befollowed, bargains must be made. Work outthe particulars with the GM.
Divine Purpose. A Sword of the Cross mayonly be swung with true selfless purpose inmind and heart; if this is not the case, thebond between the Knight and the Sword isbroken and may only be restored by undergoingsome sort of trial of faith. When swungwithout such purpose in mind and heart, theblow does not land (any attack roll automaticallyfails), the bond is immediately broken, and the sword falls from the wielder’s hand.Basically, the GM and player should lookat the description above as a guideline forhow to compel the high concept attached tothe sword—your character might be temptedto use the sword for selfish reasons, and couldeither receive a fate point to stay his handor succumb to the temptation and lose thesword temporarily. If another takes up thesword and swings it selfishly, your Knight isstill responsible for how the sword is used, with similar repercussions.
