The Deposed King

the neurovore of Zur-En-Aargh:
Through pass on eight more chapters, and at this point I am making an executive decision to do the remaining four tomorrow rather than stay up any later and risk messing things up because I am falling asleep from a particularly exhausting week.

meg_evonne:
And I stayed up. Do I get a gold star? No, because I didn't get back to writing until 8AM, when I usually start at 6.

Completed all but one of my final revision checks. Then I send it back. Or maybe one more hard copy and one more read through, but it won't have to be read out loud this time.

Bottom line? The pages with fixes the editor requested bloated manuscript to 78000, but tightened back down to 73,993. I sent it with 71101. Most YA's are shorter, but this amount is well within the imprints guidelines.

What did I learn with this? Michael A Stackpole in a workshop told us that editors may point out symptoms and not realize it. The writer has to find the disease and cure it. Not surprisingly, he's 100% right.

and volume 1 revisions are done, it is now a svelte 95,620 words, and we are on to #2 almost certainly Friday.
