Help with mortal stunts?
« on: November 22, 2012, 12:42:46 AM »
I'm wanting to make a pure mortal con artist/thief. But I'm not very practiced at coming up with the mortal stunts. The rules behind keeping them fair and balanced confuse me a bit. I was wondering if I could have some help with making up a few.

Sure, I can help.

But first, let me ask: have you looked here?

No. I was wondering if there was already a list actually.

Thanks, a lot of those help actually. I do have a question though. I need a type of stunt for someone who's a master of all sorts of art forms. Like maybe he adds additional mediums he's good at for each level of Performance or something. Also is their a good way to expand the Forgery mortal stunt found in the source book?

The rule which says you only know a number of art forms equal to your Performance is optional, so you could just ignore it. Failing that, a stunt could give 4 extra forms or let you ignore the rule. Or you could do something with Declarations, I guess.

As for expanding Document Forger, I'm not sure what you mean.

What about a stunt to forge pieces of art you might find in a museum or something along those lines.

It would basically look like the Document Forging stunt that's already in YS under Deceit, just call it Art Forgery and have it apply to artsy stuff instead.  If you want it to apply to your art creation skill instead (usually Performance) it probably wouldn't be broken to have it do that or just make it a Performance stunt.

If you're looking for bonuses you would need another stunt.

I'd probably let you forge art with Performance modified by Deceit, even without a stunt.

Your GM might not agree there, but I'm sure they'd allow a Performance or Deceit stunt that gave the skill in question an Art Forgery trapping.

Yeah, my character idea is inspired a lot by shows like white collar, and other con artists on tv/movies. A character that get's by on their social skills, and deceit for the most part.
