Serack:
This rocks dude.

Are you submitting your own answer sheet?  Please say yes.  (Silly me, I asked before looking at the first response, I was too excited)

I'll be editing this post with my own answers later.

P.S.  I edited in a link to powerups

--- Quote from: knnn on September 13, 2012, 05:59:35 PM ---The Questions:

1 ) Harry usually has a few supporting characters in each book.  Who do you think will be the main sidekick in Cold Days and in what way will they help?  Who else will have a significant contribution to the plot?
--- End quote ---
1 ) Hmmmm.  I'm going to predict that with Harry not being there to "serve" Toot took it upon himself to take more responsibility, and thus is a more... robust character.  Now that his liege is back, he's going to be key in helping Harry navigate the perils of Faedom...

I think Elaine will show up in this one still wrapped up in summer plots... I think the Gatekeeper will pop in and out a few times nudging Harry along, or maybe even out-write working with him as a near pier rather than as an enigmatic, distant, string puller who dips his staff in to nudge events occasionally.

--- Quote ---2 ) At the end of Ghost Story, Harry has said goodbye to all his friends in Chicago.

a. Who will be the first friend to find out Harry isn't dead?
--- End quote ---
2a.  Elaine (bob might beat her out, but I'm not sure if he counts as a friend since he has no free will)

--- Quote ---b. What shenanigans/snark will Harry use when he "re-appears"?
--- End quote ---
2b.  I'll have to come up with some appropriate geekery reference, hopefully one that hasn't already been answered.

--- Quote ---c. Who will have the coolest reaction?
--- End quote ---
2c.  Butters (possibly with with a bob counterpoint) will have the coolest witty reaction.  (witty humor being the best humor)

--- Quote ---d. Who will have the most touching reaction?
--- End quote ---
This is tough, the ones that will be the most emotionally involved are also the ones that might be the most hurt... I'm going to say that the reunion with Molly will be the most touching, but because of Harry's reactions playing off of hers.

--- Quote ---3 ) In nearly every book, Harry usually comes up with a new powerup/tool/way of making things go boom.  Given that he just became the new WK, what new abilities will he rely on and which new ability will be the most useful to him during the story (and how)?
--- End quote ---
I've got 2 things that Harry will manifest...  Harry's veils will be more effective in the dark, and he will freeze something...  I'm betting there will be inadvertant slipping on ice like the loony toons plan.
1 more thing that I predict, and one that I want to happen but am not necessarily betting on.
Lash will be a player again.  And she will be in Harry's corner, and as such it will be a powerup.
I want Harry to start using soulfire to greater effect creating things.  Substantial things.  embuements that are long lasting and so much more bad ass than they would be without soulfire.  But I'm not holding my breath.

--- Quote ---4 ) Harry generally has a "Big Bad" to worry about.  In fact, according to the blurb, Harry is going after someone very specific.  Who will that enemy be, and how will Harry take him/her/it down?
--- End quote ---
Actually, it's likely there will be at least two discrete big bads... maby more accurately put, at least one big bad and a heavy (with support) for intermediate/BSM conflict.

I'll have to come back to this later...

--- Quote ---5 ) Harry usually faces some sort of "Choice" in every book.  A point where the easy way out will cost his soul/humanity in some way. According to the blurb, this book will be no different.  What will be the most crucial "choice" Harry makes?
--- End quote ---

--- Quote ---6 ) As the new Winter Knight, Harry is pretty much garunteed to encounter his Summer counterpart -- Fix.  What will their interactions be?  Will Fix survive?
--- End quote ---

--- Quote ---7 ) Jim has mentioned that it's about time now to start revealing some of the motivations/dealings of the shadowy figures working behind the scenes (i.e. what Harry calls the "Black Council").  What Black Council secrets/actions will be revealed in this book?
--- End quote ---

--- Quote ---8 ) There are many WAG theories on the boards.  Write up to three WAG theories you believe are correct that will be confirmed (or at least have evidence in favor of) in Cold Days.
--- End quote ---

--- Quote ---9 ) Extra credit:  Write down any prediction about that you think might improve your final score.  Only issues aluded to within Cold Days will be counted.

Wild A$$ Guess

And I will be following Serack's example once I have worked out my answers.

The Questions:

1 ) Harry usually has a few supporting characters in each book.  Who do you think will be the main sidekick in Cold Days and in what way will they help?  Who else will have a significant contribution to the plot?

I really feel like it will be someone we haven't met yet. Probably someone from Winter assigned to Harry as an assistant/guide/spy for Mab

2 ) At the end of Ghost Story, Harry has said goodbye to all his friends in Chicago.

a. Who will be the first friend to find out Harry isn't dead?

Butters. Defintely.

b. What shenanigans/snark will Harry use when he "re-appears"?

He has to go with the Gandalf quote. He already did Star Wars in GS

c. Who will have the coolest reaction?

Murphy. Her punching him right in the balls is gonna be hilarious

d. Who will have the most touching reaction?

Again, I'm going to say Murphy. After the ball punching, it's gonna be a really tearjerking scene

- In each case, remember to specify for extra credit.

3 ) In nearly every book, Harry usually comes up with a new powerup/tool/way of making things go boom.  Given that he just became the new WK, what new abilities will he rely on and which new ability will be the most useful to him during the story (and how)?

I think it's gonna be a lot of him blending his already powerful armada of attack power. We saw him do it some in Changes, and I think that after being trained up a bit in Mab's boot camp, we are gonna see some pretty spectacular displays of combo magic.

4 ) Harry generally has a "Big Bad" to worry about.  In fact, according to the blurb, Harry is going after someone very specific.  Who will that enemy be, and how will Harry take him/her/it down?

No idea. And on this one I want to be surprized.

5 ) Harry usually faces some sort of "Choice" in every book.  A point where the easy way out will cost his soul/humanity in some way. According to the blurb, this book will be no different.  What will be the most crucial "choice" Harry makes?

I'm guessing that a lot of the book has to do with him not wanting to be the Winter Knight. He probably gets an offer, maybe from the baddie he is trying to take down, that would get him out of it.

6 ) As the new Winter Knight, Harry is pretty much garunteed to encounter his Summer counterpart -- Fix.  What will their interactions be?  Will Fix survive?

Fix will be all smiles and jokes, sorta like "Hey, remember that time I pulled a shotgun on you because I though you might be the Winter Knight. Wasn't that hilarious? Ha?"

Harry will probably enjoy messing with him a bit, but I don't see him taking out Fix unless he absolutely has too.

7 ) Jim has mentioned that it's about time now to start revealing some of the motivations/dealings of the shadowy figures working behind the scenes (i.e. what Harry calls the "Black Council").  What Black Council secrets/actions will be revealed in this book?

Well, I think that a lot of this book is going to be reaching back to the events in PG, when Artics Tor was attacked. I think Mab is going to send Harry after whomever was behind it. And since I'm fairly certain that the BC was behind it, we will get some insights there.

8 ) There are many WAG theories on the boards.  Write up to three WAG theories you believe are correct that will be confirmed (or at least have evidence in favor of) in Cold Days.

Pass. Sorry, I'm having to think hard enough to come up with my own WAG theories, all listed above. Count those.

9 ) Extra credit:  Write down any prediction about that you think might improve your final score.

Molly kisses Harry right on the lips when she sees him.

Only issues aluded to within Cold Days will be counted.

panorama:

--- Quote ---1 ) Harry usually has a few supporting characters in each book.  Who do you think will be the main sidekick in Cold Days and in what way will they help?  Who else will have a significant contribution to the plot?

Toot Toot and Leah

--- Quote ---2 ) At the end of Ghost Story, Harry has said goodbye to all his friends in Chicago.

a. Who will be the first friend to find out Harry isn't dead?
--- End quote ---
Molly via Leah

--- Quote ---b. What shenanigans/snark will Harry use when he "re-appears"?
--- End quote ---
Dropping in on Marcone unannounced.

--- Quote ---c. Who will have the coolest reaction?
--- End quote ---

While Marcone isn't a friend, I can't wait to see his reaction.  It'll probably be very matter-of-fact and unemotional.

--- Quote ---d. Who will have the most touching reaction?
--- End quote ---
Thomas (he is family after all).

--- Quote ---3 ) In nearly every book, Harry usually comes up with a new powerup/tool/way of making things go boom.  Given that he just became the new WK, what new abilities will he rely on and which new ability will be the most useful to him during the story (and how)?

Ice based attacks:  forming spears of ice, tossing snowflake shuriken, freezing air in people's lungs, etc.

--- Quote ---4 ) Harry generally has a "Big Bad" to worry about.  In fact, according to the blurb, Harry is going after someone very specific.  Who will that enemy be, and how will Harry take him/her/it down?
--- End quote ---
Definitely Drakul.  WOJ says that the Nagloshii was potentially hired by somebody with enough juice to consider it to be cheap muscle, and has been mentioned but not seen onscreen.  Lots of people seem to think that Titania fits the bill except that Titania was onscreen twice in Summer Knight (Harry saw her with his Sight and even mentioned the experience in Turn Coat, and again at the end as a blue nimbus when Titania came to collect Aurora's body).  Drakul also is listed as having the juice to take on Mab directly, and Eb mentioned him in Blood Rites with some detail e.g. cruel and powerful, Kincaid's employer, etc.  Seems odd that somebody would get so much mention but no screen time.  I think Cold Days will finally address that.  Harry will take down Drakul with Demonreach's help.  We know DR will be involved because of the UK blurb.

--- Quote ---5 ) Harry usually faces some sort of "Choice" in every book.  A point where the easy way out will cost his soul/humanity in some way. According to the blurb, this book will be no different.  What will be the most crucial "choice" Harry makes?
--- End quote ---
Most likely something to do with Demonreach.  My guess is the necessary sacrifice of a few to safeguard the safety of billions (sort of the reverse of Changes where he sought the well-being of one, and to heck with the fallout).

--- Quote ---6 ) As the new Winter Knight, Harry is pretty much garunteed to encounter his Summer counterpart -- Fix.  What will their interactions be?  Will Fix survive?
--- End quote ---
My guess is there'll be no direct confrontation, only veiled threats, sabre rattling, and puffing of chests.

--- Quote ---7 ) Jim has mentioned that it's about time now to start revealing some of the motivations/dealings of the shadowy figures working behind the scenes (i.e. what Harry calls the "Black Council").  What Black Council secrets/actions will be revealed in this book?

Proven Guilty was 5 or 6 books ago.  It's about time that all the loose ends from that book were tied up.  Specifically, why Mab brought Molly to Arctis Tor, who attacked it.

--- Quote ---8 ) There are many WAG theories on the boards.  Write up to three WAG theories you believe are correct that will be confirmed (or at least have evidence in favor of) in Cold Days.
--- End quote ---
In Small Favor, Nicodemus suggests that crossing over to the NeverNever from the Island was tantamount to putting a bullet in your head.  So, whatever is on the other side must be pretty dangerous.  My WAG has always been that the other side of the island is a prison in the NeverNever.  Demonreach is the Prison Guard.  In a WOJ about the island, Jim makes a weird non-sequiter-like comment about how Wardens were once singular, e.g. it was a title given to somebody.  Eb mentions in his journal in Turn Coat how Harry can be trusted with the "mantle" associated with the island.  I think Harry signed on for the job of "Warden" of the NeverNever prison when he bonded with Demonreach.  It is the Mantle of "The Warden" that Harry has now assumed.

--- Quote ---9 ) Extra credit:  Write down any prediction about that you think might improve your final score.  Only issues aluded to within Cold Days will be counted.

--- End quote ---
Eb has made two mentions of the original Merlin, the last one being after the battle in Changes.  My question is, why would Jim devote so much mention to the original Merlin in the aftermath of the battle?  Seems like a significant clue or foreshadowing to me.  My guess is that we'll find out more about the original Merlin or there'll be a link into the story somehow.
