Sorry i didn't notice this until today; I meant the first, not the second, and I hope it did not read at all unfriendly.

--- Quote ---As it is I'm only really able to put out 5k on one of my two free days off work.  And 1k is about what I can manage after work, although sometimes I get on a roll and go as high as 2.5k.  Frankly I'm insanely jealous of Chris Nuttal, 9k a day as your daily target????  Jeeze luise, and I thought 5k was toppers!  I'm feeling totally inadequate over here.

--- End quote ---

I am totally happy on days when I get 2kwords, and very happy with days when I get 4k.  (And _so_ looking forward to a point when I am writing anew again, i miss that.)

My personal record is 14.5k in 24 hours a few years back, and 45kwords in eight or nine days when I was between jobs two years ago (which was the second half of a novel.)

Just a sly little aside.  Or at least an attempt at one, Neuro.  No worries!

Sounds like you can get it cooking when you're on!  Hope you get back to it soon!  The brother really saves me from the dreaded red pen.  I only have to take 1-2 weeks of my time, days off etc, to hammer on edits, the rest I get to spend on forward progress!

When the edits are asked for by interested professionals, it seems important to prioritise them. OTOH, staying sane is also a priority.

Paynesgrey:
I find that the Dialect/Voice edit is looming over the project like an angry, sullen and vengeful god.

the neurovore of Zur-En-Aargh:
I've been rereading a fair bit of Clive Barker  recently - late 80s/early 90s Barker, when he was writing bestselling 700-1000 page fantasy novels, which I've not reread in a while, and they make me rethink some of what I am currently working on - I may be overdoing the trying to make things taut, because these books are reminding me of how effective a digressive prose style can be if done well, and they were pretty successful commercially too.
