Reading a NPC Stat Block (Inhuman Toughness/Catch)??
« on: October 15, 2011, 10:41:37 PM »
So monsters have things like

Physical OOOO(OO)
I assume that the ones in Brackets are do to the Supernatural Toughness.  Are those only able to be beat IF you use its Catch?

Thanks in Advance
Jon

No.

They are only there against attacks that don't involve the Catch. So if I hit a guy with a stress track like this:

OOOO(OO)

for five stress without using the Catch, his stress track looks like this:

OOOO(XO).

If I hit him for five stress with the Catch, then the hit ignores those two stress boxes and takes the guy out.

Does that make sense?

Barring consequences, of course.
Even Chaotic Neutral individuals have to apologize sometimes. But at least we don't have to mean it.

So if im reading that right... lets say standerd Fae.  It has 7 health, unless the opponent is using Iron... in which case its considered 5?

Pretty much. Also any recovery powers or armor from Toughness Powers don't work against catch based damaged.

Just for your general info and before some other nitpicker says it, most stress tracks only have 4. So if you were fighting a Goblin with a Endurance of a least Great and Inhuman Toughness his stress Track would look like:
0000(00)

but against attacks that satisfy his catch of Iron, his Track would effectively be
0000.

Yea you had it right basically.
Apparently I would much rather post than sleep.

it also works the same with recovery. If you deal consequences that satisfy the catch the npc with recovery can not remove them if mild, and they do not track down after the scene has ended.
