Shecky's gonna get out the spider cannon or is that a spider discombobulator?
Whatever, it's death to Arachnids.

A general ramblement, if I might be so bold...

We don't so much work on the "all your sins remembered" basis as we do on looking for specific patterns of (mis)behaviour.  (Barring incidents that are pretty extreme.)  Habitual offenses, like when someone keeps "accidently" making a Touchy Topic comment or thinly veiled insult.  We note specific incidents, we compare notes to see if any of the other mods have warned a member about a certain or similar behaviour.  Then we kill a baby male goat and rummage about in the slippety bits to determine what course of action is appropriate.

Just kidding about the goat.

If someone's trying to get along, making an honest effort to not get out of line, we'll do the best we can to work with them up to the point where the conduct is negatively affecting the community in general.  (I can recall offhand only 1 or 2 incidents like that.)  That usually has to be a pretty extreme and/or repetitive issue.  Honest misunderstanding, attempts to get clarification and the like we understand.  Mistakes happen, people have hotbuttons and bad days.  We'll work with people who are willing to let us.  It makes us happy to have things work positively for everyone involved.   We're just all squishy and cuddly that way.  (Although Angry Prisc and Irritated Blaze terrify me almost as much as my wife when she's angry.  A body's got to be pretty far out of line for that to happen though.)

However.

If someone is making an intentional effort to rules lawyer, to circumvent or do an end-round on the rules, or is just plain being defiant and disrespectul of the rules, the staff, or the other members, then our gentle, tolerant nature slinks under the stairs and cries quietly until we decide the behavior has been corrected.

If you're ever not sure about something, ask one of the Mderators or Bartenders.  You can post questions here, you can PM us.  We try to update and clarify things as issues come up.  (The Book Of Don't being kind of our "Patch Notes" for the rules and standards.

One of my first bosses once told me, "You can screw up as many times as you possibly can and I won't have a problem.  Just never screw up the same way twice."

I had a conductor say something similar after the tenor section screwed things up royally, the exact same way, two rehearsals in a row.

"It's okay to make mistakes  We're all human.  We all make mistakes.  But next time, make a different mistake."

If it helps reasure any new people, I got a bit louder than a warning once, and am now out of the dog house.

 ;D
Yeah, but Germans and Hungarians don't pull people's theories out of their sockets when they're challenged.  Ducks are known to do that.
