Did you discover the books because of the TV Show?

gryffonswings:
I had vaguely heard of the books a couple years ago (I am a frequent visitor to the scifi/fantasy sections in bookstores), but I had never bought any even though I had heard that they were good.  I didn't actually watch the show when it first started airing.  I saw a couple episodes when there was a marathon on all day at one point and thought it was an intriguing principle.  At that point, I remembered that I had heard good things about the books and bought the first one.  Which I then made my mom and brother read as well.  I have since read all the books (a couple times, actually) as well as seen the entire season (I own that as well).  All I can say is that I am glad that I took a chance on the books.

Miladie:
I didn't even know about the show and just picked up the books out of interest at the book store, nothing to do with the show whatsoever. Out of interest from the books, though, I did wonder whether there was a tv series or movie or something, like Neil Gaiman, but when I saw the DVD cover I was disappointed. He was nothing like I imagined him in my head, and honestly I think it''s always best that way...the books are always a lot better than what they interpret on another medium. So yeah...read the books, re-reading them again.

proxieme:
I didn't even catch the show when it was on...Hulu's a good thing.
Gotta say that I'm much more fond of the books than the show - it's not that it's bad...each episode had many fine points.

The books unabashedly rawk, though  ;D

Mindrunner:
I didnt even know there was a show, I just started reading the books and only found there was a show by coming to this website.   Does anyone know where I can find a timeline of the books by the way?

--- Quote from: Sky_Reader on August 12, 2008, 04:47:08 PM ---I found Dredan Files on iTunes. It was the free download of the week. After that - I was hooked. I was SO BUMMED when it was cancelled. Later on, I wondered into a Christian based sci-fi chat room (don't ask), and I had asked if anyone had watched Dresden Files. About three of them stated they hadn't heard of the tv show, but they were frantic fans of the book. So - I went on a witch hunt to find them and eventually just went to Amazon. I'm only on the second book and I've already let 2 of my buds borrow Storm Front.

This is such a fun series!

Just wait till you read books 3 and 4, Grave Peril and Summer Knight, they are great and the series really takes off. The series story arc starts to be filled in and you start seeing the greater series story behind the individual book stories. Read them in order for maximum enjoyment.
