A Question regarding Magic and Mental Armor
« on: July 04, 2010, 03:53:00 AM »
I'm new to the FATE system, and have a question regarding magic and mental armor (as you can probably tell by the topic of this thread): If a wizard uses thautaumagry to create an enchanted object that grants mental armor, does that mean he/she no longer takes that much mental stress to cast evocations?

No, and the various stunts that provide mental armor won't do it either.  Mental stress from evocations is one of the bedrock balancing rules of how evocations are implemented in the rules.  So the only way to get around stress for evocations is the explicitly house rule it.

Yeah, Mental Armor will protect against external harm, but not self-inflicted damage.
