McAnally's (The Community Pub) > Author Craft
A Longshot question.
Wolfie:
I was wondering if there are any writers on this board who live close to me. I know it's a longshot, but I can't get it out of my head, so I'll go with my gut. 8)
Is there anybody here who lives near Alkmaar, the Netherlands? I'd like to meet with you and talk about writing, Butcher-esque things etc. over a glass of something. (Irish pub's my favorite, but anything goes.)
Dom:
I've come accross people from the Netherlands, and Belgium, but it tends to be sporadic on English-speaking boards--one or two per fandom.
You might do better if you do a search in Dutch. A lot of English-language SFF seems to be translated and imported to Dutch-speaking countries, so there must be a fan base.
I know the owners of http://www.fantus.nl/ speak English. Dunno if they write, but they might have a brick-and-mortor store that you can visit. (I don't speak Dutch, so I don't know...)
There's also http://www.forumboekerij.nl/ff_index.html which does a lot of the translated editions of popular SFF authors. They might have some sort of place where you can meet other SFF-writers in your area.
Hope that helps.
Wolfie:
Thanx Dom. I'll check those sites. Fantus is a dutch translation of an english character, so that should be ok. Forumboekerij is dutch as well.
Thanx mate, I searched Google till I saw blue. Nada.
Mickey Finn:
I support people from Royal Dutch Shell in NL, does that count? :)

What do you mean by support? IT??? I have an uncle who worked for Shell and traveled the globe for them. He is an Engineer. Worked on Water projects. Our national specialty. I believe Dutch engineers are looking into New Orleans at the moment.
;D Small world innit?
