Yes the idea that a players character could become an npc by failing a single roll was concerning me but judging from what I have seen of the rest of the game I dont think that would be the case. Im sure there is an elegent soloution they already have implemented that I never would have considered.

Ihadris: like traeki is saying I think that the "becoming an NPC in a single roll" is kind of like "becoming dead in a single roll." Sure both COULD happen but the way the RPG is set up it probably won't unless you're very unlucky, already beat up and facing some nasty opposition instead you'll get wounded or very very distracted the majority of the time.
