I prefer it as i live there but I'd be willing to take a day and go to Austin if I had to. I have a gps so I won't get as lost as I used to. ;) I can't go anywhere else if it's a weekday and april is close to finals so they hate for staff to take off :(

i live in midland, so i think san antonios closer. idk. never been to a book signing or Con. before. i think itd be fun.

My only experience with meeting famous people has been meeting Jim Fowler of Mutual of Omaha's wild kingdom fame at an aquarium I worked at... Jim Brickman concerts... and a jazz musician I like named SlimMan. I did go to a local ST con once... it was ok. I saw Marina Sirtis there speaking... and I did get Dave Barry's autograph locally once... he's funny and nice. And I think that's it. *whew*

If Jim comes to Austin I will take the day off and so be there for the signing... no ifs ands or buts!

Midland might be closer to San Antonio, but it might be a bit more equidistant.  I know San Angelo is about equidistant to both San Antonio and Austin.  Takes about 3 hours to get to either.
