It seems that I can never get off of the first line, first position!

There's only one other forum that I spend as much time in as here, and it's like that over there, too.  I'm always first in the list, and the rest of the members currently online follow in alphabetical order.

IIRC, it's in order of last activity on the board.  Therefore, you should always be first because when you retrieved the information, you were online and active most recently, even if for just a partial second.

Confirmed.  If you stay on for a while and then go back to the main board, you'll see others who have logged on after you have taken that exalted position.  :)
