The community over at Smart Bitches,Trashy Books decided to run with this and came up with a Photoshop contest for cheesy, exploitative marketing.  The entries are hilarious! You need to scroll about halfway down the page:

It would at first seem to be very poorly done, but then reading the comments, it looks like it's a free book with a preorder of the new Dan Brown book.  So not so bad as it seems at first.

Or Duped, cheap shilling?  To be honest, I'm not sure what to think.  I suspect though that if they are pre-ordering they will find out when they have to provide their address and information, so nobody should be too put out, unless they had to stand in line to buy or something.

Personally, I like the twists from the Smartbitches.
