You don't have to alter much of the plot, just improve the quality of writing.

Actually, the way I would do it is for the kickass heroine not to develop until the third book, with glimmers of it during the second.

Do whatever will give you the most different and interesting challenges from what you've been working on so far, provided you don't already have "potential interest of agent" as a deciding factor which having something more might be useful towards.

Guess I'm the only one who picked 'Horses and the People who Transport Them.' ::)

My non-sci fi internet writing group came down firmly with the Race Horses..so you aren't alone. and technically neurovore sort of indicated it as an alternative and a change of pace.
It looks like I will be 1. working on an excel outline for the Race Horses and murder thing while I 2. re-read Dante's Inferno to see if it--sparks my interest enough for me committ to it.
I did sign up for the advance YA class with the editor Jill Santapolo (editor at Bazler and Bray, Harper imprint) that starts 09.15, which will drop me into the deep waters with the YA and its sequel, unless she suggests trying something brand new!
Therefore working on something 'completely different' as neurovore mentioned really made a lot of sense. I have a tiny bit of concern that I'd be dipping into the dark side for quite a time committment on the Dante, but it could be funny as heck too. I'm only using the premise of Infernao as a backbone.
Thank you for your input! I'm closing down the poll. AGAIN THANK YOU ALL!
